- Manikarnika Ghat - One of the oldest and holiest ghats in Varanasi, Manikarnika Ghat is the primary cremation site where devout Hindus are cremated before their ashes are immersed in the sacred Ganges. Hindu mythology associates this ghat with Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva, and it is believed that those cremated here achieve moksha (salvation). Bodies are brought on bamboo stretchers covered in red cloth and are consigned to flames with prayers for eternal peace. The ghat also features the Manikarnika Kund, a sacred well said to have been dug by Lord Vishnu during creation. Lord Vishnu is believed to have meditated here for many years, and his footprints are said to be visible on a circular marble slab. The ghat is also known for the mid-1800s temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Mata Durga.
- Kali Temple - While walking through the cremation ground, visit the Kali Temple, dedicated to the Hindu goddess of death. Though often associated with violence, Kali is also seen as a strong mother figure and a symbol of maternal love.

Venture across the city to gain new perspectives on the cycle of birth and death. Experience the city in a unique way, that offers a peek into Mahashamstana, the grand funeral site where the final rites following death are performed. Explore the sacred fertility ponds and journey in semi-darkness to the Aghori ashram, a sanctuary for the followers of tantric non-dualism, renowned for their black-adorned renunciates who meditate at the cremation sites. This place draws in numerous individuals each year, who come to perform the final rituals after the demise of their beloveds. It is believed that by doing so, they end the cycle of reincarnation, bestowing their loved ones with Moksha (liberation from the cycle of birth and death governed by the laws of Karma). Varanasi is not only the spiritual heart of India, but also the dwelling place of the Aghoris. Join us on a tour to explore how these two contrasting entities coexist within the same city. As we conclude the journey, the last stop will be a ritualistic worship at the temple.
