- Manikarnika Ghat - Manikarnika Ghat is the primary cremation ghat and is considered the most sacred place for a Hindu to be cremated. The deceased are managed by outcasts called doms, who transport the bodies through the old town’s alleyways to the holy Ganges on bamboo stretchers, wrapped in cloth. Before cremation, the body is immersed in the Ganges.
