Enjoy a 13-hour journey to the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Bernina TRAIN railway. The trip begins with a scenic route along Lake Como and through a picturesque Alpine valley. We’ll stop in a charming lakeside village and possibly visit a winery, an old cellar, or a café. In Tirano, you’ll have about an hour for lunch before we board the Bernina TRAIN, which ascends the Swiss Alps. We’ll disembark at one of the highest points to take in views of snow-capped peaks and glaciers. (IN CASE OF SEVERE WEATHER, WE MAY NOT REACH THIS POINT AND WILL SWITCH TO A PARTIAL RIDE OF THE BERNINA TRAIN.) Afterward, we’ll head to St. Moritz, where you’ll have approximately 45 minutes to explore this world-renowned, fashionable resort. Finally, we’ll return to Lake Como through another stunning Swiss valley, where you’ll board a regular train back to Milan. TRAVELERS MUST HAVE A GOOD LEVEL OF PHYSICAL FITNESS!

Climb the stairs inside the Station all the way to the upper floor until you are right before the gates to enter the tracks and meet our guide in charge just outside the entrance of the BAR CENTRALE (NOT bistrot Centrale) at 08:00 am in front of the gate "C".

So worth it! - So glad I took this trip. Long day but well worth it. Beautiful scenery and lovely towns. Guide Julia (sorry if spelling wrong) was an absolute pleasure.

Fantastic train ride.... - Fantastic train ride. Your guide could have used a microphone in the car and been more attentive. Car drive was helpful and fantastic. Did need to be dropped off in the high end ski town with not much to do. Would have enjoyed a small town. Need a better way to get train ticket in the morning to us. We never got ours much confusion. The tour is well worth the price .

Amazing, unforgettable day! - What an amazing day! A little hiccup with the initial meeting point (make sure you follow the tour operator’s instructions, NOT Viator’s) but once we sorted that out, the rest of the day was spectacular. Our guide, Giulia, was incredible! She’s so kind and knowledgeable about the area. We really enjoyed her. She made sure we got the best train car and somehow our group ended up having the train car to ourselves. She always knew which side to be on for the best views and she took amazing pictures of us! It’s a long day, so be prepared for that, but it’s well worth it to see some beautiful scenery in the Alps and explore Lake Como a bit.

Lifetime Experience - Lifetime experience on train with clear fall day with fresh snow.
Last 30 minutes of the train ride was good enough to pay the $.
After seeing the ski slopes and glaciers , we are ready to come here on next Dec for skiing

Depending on what you want, this may or may not be the tour for you - First off our tour guide, Paola was great. We met everyone at the train station sharply at 8am and we had a total of 15 of us in the group. We walked over to the bus and it was lined up with other large buses, which we were hoping we were on, but we were in a smaller mercedes benz sprinter vehicle. Paola was very thorough and explained the tour to us with her small mic and speaker. (The car's speaker/mic setup had issues but she was prepared with a smaller setup which worked out fine) We checked out Lake Como for about 30min then headed to Tirano for lunch. We will say that the timing at each location seemed short and tight for us to really explore and see the town. Luckily we made a lunch reservation at a great spot in Tirano and they were fast enough to get us fed and back to the train station to take the Bernina train. Now, this is the Bernina Train not Bernina Express, the difference being that the train windows open and the express windows do NOT, so this is in fact the option you want if you want those great photos without window glare. The Bernina express is newer but again, we were happy that we were on the train rather than express. Our arrival into St. Mortiz was pleasant but again we lacked enough time to really explore the city, some quick hot cocoa and back to the bus to drive back 3hrs to Milan. We did make a pit stop on the way back for some food and a bathroom break, but if you are looking for more time in each place and exploring on your own, we would recommend getting a car and going to Tirano then booking your own tickets on the Bernina. If you want to have a fully guided tour and limited time in each place, then this is the option for you. Like we said, Paola was great and very energetic and positive, but for us we would have preferred to do the trek on our own time.
