Begin your journey with a Medieval Tour that departs in the morning, offering a private exploration of Veliko Tarnovo and the nearby Arbanasi Village. The tour promises a deep dive into the medieval era, with highlights including the Tsarevets Fortress and the Basarabovo Monastery. As you wander through these ancient sites, the stories of the past come alive, whispering tales of kings and battles long forgotten.

“Our guide Andrei was absolutely fantastic. Very friendly well informed guide and kept us amused in this long but exciting trip. The views from Veliko Tarnovo were exceptional. But make sure you can walk quite a bit because the way up the fortress requires some effort. Great trip overall.” - Reviewed on 2021-12-01

The carnival is more than just a celebration; it’s a journey into the heart of Veliko Tarnovo, where every dance and every song tells a story of its own. As you join in the festivities, you become a part of this living tapestry, adding your own thread to the rich fabric of the city’s history.

Reflections at Sunset

As the day draws to a close, the city is bathed in the warm hues of the setting sun. The carnival may be winding down, but the spirit of Veliko Tarnovo lingers in the air, inviting you to reflect on the day’s adventures.

Consider embarking on a Fortress & Village Excursion the following morning, where you can delve deeper into the medieval wonders of the region. The tour offers a chance to explore the Tsaravets Fortress and the Arbanasi Village, with its age-old architecture and breathtaking views.

“Excellent tour - I booked a private tour. My guide was Victor Zamphir. The guide is very polite and easy to talk to. Very well travelled. Very knowledgeable. Excellent story teller. Provided a lot of historical data while answering my questions. The tour involves a lot of driving, but you get to see a lot of nice houses and nature. The tour involves a lot of walking. Wear the appropriate shoes and clothes. The monastery is not some medieval shining cathedral, but it is very unique and interesting. The fortress is located in an astounding location. The views are breathtaking. We climbed to the top of a watch tower - the views are even better. We went through the fortress, into a church. We walked in the old city. The atmosphere is calm, yet full of life, but not overwhelming like in large tourist cities. I will remember this tour and my conversations with the tour guide forever.” - Reviewed on 2024-09-21
