Davide, on the boat, told us a series of incredible anecdotes about the vicissitudes of the last 1000 years of history. on board his beautiful boat we landed in the Mocenigo furnace, where Cristian welcomed us and together with him without haste and with great passion we bought real piece of art

Introduction to glass blowing with a hard sell - First I want to say that our driver/tour guide Davide was great. We really liked him. I do feel like the information on this tour is a little misleading. Basically you meet Davide and he drives you over to Murano in his boat. He tells you a little about the city, it’s about a 5-10 minute ride. You then arrive at the glass factory. You are handed off to someone that works there and they tell you about glass blowing and you are able to watch a demonstration of them making glass—which is great. About 15 minutes. You then go up to the gallery and are walked around and told about the beautiful pieces. Then they try to get you to buy pieces. We are taking minimum 35,000 for a chandelier. 1000 dollars for a set of glasses. Very expensive. Which is understandable because it is beautiful. But we were not in a position to buy. And it got very uncomfortable when they found out we weren’t going to buy anything. You are then taken back to the mainland by a different person. The whole experience was about an hour and 15. It was interesting and Davide was great but just beware that if you aren’t planning on purchasing it will get awkward.

Glass master a 10, total experience a 5 - The best part of this tour was watching and interacting with the master glass artist. The viewing of the individual works by family was also very interesting. There was a distinct pressure to buy these very expensive works of art and although the staff were friendly and willing to speak a it the families and their specific glasswork pieces, the undertone of sales was always there. What made this experience less than perfect is the required rushing out the door after only 40 minutes. We would have liked to spend a little more time exploring the gift shops where the prices weren’t so high. The experience wasn’t quite what was described as there was no Prosecco r toilet onboard. Again, it seemed very rushed.
