Highlights
  • Canal Grande - Known as “The most beautiful road in the world,” the Canal Grande offers a view that has remained largely unchanged since the 18th century. Imagine seeing what an 18th-century nobleman, a Renaissance courtesan, or a medieval merchant would have seen.
  • Peggy Guggenheim Collection - The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is among the world’s most significant art collections. Peggy Guggenheim, originally from New York, arrived in Venice in 1949 and indulged her passion for art by acquiring this magnificent building to showcase priceless artworks. The stunning terrace is where Guggenheim often sunbathed, enjoying the view over the Canal Grande.
  • Palazzo Gritti Badoer - Named after the Gritti family, an ancient Venetian lineage, the Gritti Palace’s most notable member was Andrea Gritti, the Doge of Venice during the Renaissance. Andrea Gritti led Venetian forces against the League of Cambrai, which included France, Spain, and the Holy Roman Empire, all of whom sought to curb Venice’s expansionist ambitions.
  • Teatro La Fenice - Once one of seven major theatres in Venice, today La Fenice stands as the city’s sole opera house. It is a gem among European theatres, having hosted the works of the era’s greatest composers, including Bellini, Donizetti, and Rossini. However, Giuseppe Verdi is most closely associated with La Fenice and Venetian cultural memory.
  • Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute - As you enter the Grand Canal, the imposing Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute greets you. Strategically positioned at the canal’s entrance, its circular shape offers views of the city in all directions.

Every year on November 21, the city commemorates the Madonna della Salute in remembrance of the end of the plague.

  • The Yard of Venice Bookshop Gallery - We are a distinctive gallery where you can see and touch an authentic Venetian Gondola, the only place in Venice offering this experience. Discover the craftsmanship behind a Gondola, exploring every detail of this iconic vessel.

Short but Sweet - Make sure to check the weather as when water levels are high you won’t be able to do the full route unfortunately. Even only having done part of the route it was still worth it and very nice! Aurora was mot only extremely friendly and knowledgable, but both her Spanish & English were spoken very well (:

Bravo Atena! - The Guide was very correct and the walk along the canals was nice but short. The gondolier drier than tuna wetness. Nor did we find it very appropriate to ask for a tip when leaving the ride. Recommended.

Very correct atena but the part of the gondolas very improveable - Atena was very nice and explained very well in Spanish. The part of the gondola, too brief and the one that waits for you at the end almost imposes the tip. My 76-year-old mother had him pick up again and bend down to get a cushion off the floor. A tasteless detail.

Fun ride - Very nice ride, the tour guide was young Ricardo, a native Venetian, very charming. The gondola ride was fun, the gondolieri was quiet, 30 minutes were not enough though

Maybe ONCE in a lifetime, but that's enough... - I guess once in your life you should experience a gondola ride, but realize it will NOT be serene, with italian music playing in the background, champagne in your hand..... It's actually an oddly tilted boat with a non-speaking (to you) gondolier, no music, but a lot of loud yelling/talking/laughing back an forth between the gondoliers and jet boat drivers (yes, on the same canal), over your head. Also, as we discovered, the canals are murky because they contain sewage. Eh.... wouldn't go again.
