Dream Come True! - Talk about a dream come true! When I first visited Venice about a decade ago, I wondered if kayaking was available — and I imagined how incredible it would be to kayak the canals of Venice! When I started planning this trip to Venice, I found Real Venetian Kayak and immediately booked a tour. The guide, Paulo, made sure everyone was comfortable in their boats before heading out (all equipment was provided - including a life jacket). As we paddled, the guide provided interesting information on the area we were seeing. If you love paddle sports, I would definitely recommend this activity!

Highlight of our trip - We absolutely loved the kayaking tour and was probably the highlight of our stay in Venice. The safety briefing and instructions were good and our guide Agostina was lovely. We kayaked round the peaceful canals of Cannaregio and out into the open water for a short stretch. It was good to be away from the crowds of San Marco and conveniently located as we were staying in Canareggio. Yes it was expensive, but what isn’t in Venice.

You won’t be disappointed - If you have very basic kayaking skills, this is a must do. I was lucky to be the only person booked on that time slot for that tour. So I experienced a one on one tour. Well she was lovely, explained clearly what I had to do, and then off we went. Started off in the canals and then ventured into the lagoon, finishing off back into the canals and then returning to where we started. Along the way stopping with a brief explanation of the surroundings. Only downfall, was too short because I really enjoyed it.

You can only do this in Venice - A cool experience to see the Venice's canals without having to do the gondala ride. I did the evening tour, and there were hardly and boats, so we got to enjoy kayaking with less traffic. I recommend this because it's a unique experience that you can only do in Venice.

Beautiful kayaktour in the late afternoon - It was wonderful! Highly recommended. Our guide Augustina has guided us very well and gave a lot of interesting information about Canareggio. I would book again immediately.

A unique way to see the nooks and crannies of Venice - We had a great time paddling around Venice, thanks to the lovely Boris. It was a unique way of seeing the nooks and crannies of this wonderful city and a spectacular sunset. But expect to get very wet (we all did) and the sprint across the busy boat lanes in the lagoon wasn’t for those with a nervous disposition…

Short Paddle + Great Way to see Venice at Night - Great way to see Venice! Spent about 1 hr 15 mins paddling some canals and a bit of the lagoon with a small group (5 total + 1 guide). Our guide, Boris, was wonderful - very helpful and knowledgeable. The narrow canals necessitate staying in single file, so those in the back could not hear the guide well. As others stated, the trip was pretty short - my watch clocked 2.29 miles.

Loved the day kayak trip previously. Was disappointed with the safety of the nighttime tour - We previously did a daytime kayak with Real Venetian and had a wonderful time. We were disappointed with the night kayak for several reasons: 1. they ran late with the tour before ours, a guide’s phone was not working etc etc. 2. the guide should have fitted our life jackets, paddles (mine were offset, I didn’t enjoy them) and prepped us while waiting for the previous tour to return 3. At night, there should be 2 guides per tour as the group becomes spread out along the canal wall. One in front and one in back. There were a few sketchy moments in darkness with just our little headlamp and big boats bearing down, especially crossing the larger bodies of water. The guide was at the very front and people towards the back could not hear her 4. the guide provided some history during the tour which was sometimes hard to understand 5. More lights needed at night. In Vancouver we use lights on the ends of our paddles to be more visible. 6. Exiting the kayaks during low tide: there should be a drop down ladder, especially for short people like myself. There was only a rope. My husband had to literally drag me on my stomach. It was not a comfortable exit (drop in was fine), in the dark, well below the level of the floor (no steps). Just be prepared for these things. Hopefully they will change the number of guides per kayaker for safety. To note: we are experienced kayakers. You need to be very comfortable making tight turns around corners to avoid other boats
