As a travel writer and a mother of three, I’m always on the lookout for activities that are both educational and enjoyable for the whole family. When I heard about the Tapas Cooking Class in Vera, I knew it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. The idea of learning to cook authentic Spanish tapas in a modern culinary school sounded like a perfect blend of culture and cuisine.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with a charming board outside the school, welcoming us by name. It was a small touch, but it set the tone for the personal and friendly experience that awaited us. Cool drinks and delicious snacks were offered as we mingled with our fellow “students for the day.” It was a delightful start, and I could already sense the camaraderie building among us.

Hands-On Learning with a Personal Touch

The kitchen was a dream come true for any cooking enthusiast. Lovingly designed and well-equipped, it was the perfect setting for our culinary adventure. Christine, our instructor, had a knack for making everyone feel at ease. Her meticulous preparation and clear instructions made the cooking process both fun and educational.

We worked in pairs, trying our hands at various dishes like Beignets, Calamari with Tomato and Anis, Alioli, and the classic Spanish Tortilla. Each dish was a new experience, and Christine’s easy-going style made it accessible even for those with little cooking experience. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere allowed us to enjoy the process without any pressure.

Savoring the Fruits of Our Labor

After a morning filled with cooking and laughter, the real reward came at 1:30 pm when we sat down to enjoy the fruits of our labor. The dishes we prepared were not only delicious but also a testament to the skills we had acquired during the class. Paired with a glass of local wine or a soft drink, it was a meal to remember.

As we left, I felt inspired and ready to try these recipes at home with my family. The class had not only taught me new culinary skills but also provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with others and share in the joy of cooking. Christine’s passion for teaching and her warm hospitality made this experience truly special. I can’t wait to return for her Asian cooking class in the future!
