Terrific guide - Our guide, an archeologist, gave a wonderful tour. His talk was friendly to all levels of knowledge, and he answered all questions with specific information. He engaged all members of the party, spoke (English) loudly enough to be heard by all, walked at a good pace. Really, really good. The tour went to all locations mentioned in the description. Our group had 10, mostly couples, mostly over 60 in age.

Absolute must when visiting Verona - Verona was a last minute stop on an Italy trip and this was such a fantastic experience and such a wonderful tour that I would now recommend not only the tour but also adding Verona to a trip if you have not already. This went so much deeper than a typical tour of Romeo’s house and Juliette’s balcony and I absolutely loved the entire experience!

Brilliant, informative tour by a lovely guide. - What a great, informative tour. Lovely lady taking the group and there were only 4 of us which was fab, so we could really engage with her and ask lots of questions. As always from a walking tour, we learned lots of things about Verona which you wouldn't normally find out and it gave us a good idea of how to find our own way around this beautiful city. It was thoroughly enjoyable the highlight of what was a wonderful trip to Verona.

A great few hours with a knowledgeable guide. - We had a great time with Sara. She was extremely knowledgeable and did well to deal with the different languages our group required. She moved between English and Italian seemlessly. She provided an excellent explanation of the wine region and the different processes of the valpolicella wines. The group was reasonably small and made for a friendly and connected group. We had some lovely antipasto and wine. Thanks so much!

Much ado about nothing … pun intended. - The Verona walk was a bit underwhelming and did not live up to the expectation that had been built by everything I had seen, heard and read about the city and the tour. The tour involved a long stretches of uninteresting and commentary-less walking through busy roads and less sight-seeing and descriptive interludes. The guide Serena had done a good amount of homework in bringing pictures, maps and documents to show us at some focal points, but nothing really was not enough to stir much interest in the sights. The arena turned out to be another anticlimactic sight. The ongoing work, in preparation for the upcoming season of operas and concerts, makes the arena look more like a construction site with its cranes and work-crews than a stirring historic sight to behold. The fact that this is an arena is still in use is like a double-edged sword, I guess. Is it a historic venue that takes away one’s breath, or just another commercial structure where modern events are conducted for the paying public? I think it is time the city makes up its mind about how they want to present it to tourists who come from all over the world to see it. Not everyone can experience a concert or opera to get the full effect of the arena, right?
