Monet settled in Giverny in 1883. He tirelessly transformed a neglected estate into a floral masterpiece, the inspiration for many of his greatest masterpieces. A painter in his garden, Monet was also a painter throughout the world, and went away for long painting campaigns. But he was never really far away. Through his letters, he watched closely over his family and his flowers. The frequent visits of his friends and admirers made Giverny the center of his existence. Until his death in 1926, the painter, the father, the gardener and the man never left Giverny.

Claude Monet resided in Giverny from 1883 till 1926, a total of forty-three years. He had a fervent passion for both gardening and colours, and he crafted his flower garden and water garden like true masterpieces. As visitors wander around his garden and house, they are still able to immerse themselves in the ambiance that engulfed the master of Impressionism, and marvel at the floral compositions and water lilies that were his principal inspiration and source of creativity.
