Highlights

Discover the north of the archipelago

Gimsoya - Gimsøya, the smallest of the islands with its 300 inhabitants, is a fantastic spot where the Fjord and the Atlantic Ocean meet each other and the steep mountains on the background make this spot a perfect location to start taking pictures.

Torvdalshalsen Viewpoint - TORVDALSHALSEN (Eggum)
It offers fantastic views over Vestvågøya, over the sea, over the countryside, over the several farms which characterize the island, and over the steep high mountains which make this spot unique and photogenic. Perfect for photo passionate.

Haukland Beach - The most beautiful place in Norway - crystal clear water - white sand - the arctic paradise. We will stop and enjoy the beauty of nature.
When in Haukland, it’s hard to believe we are 200 kilometers above the Polar Circle and not in the tropics!

Eggum - The fishing village of Eggum lies on the seaward side of Vestvågøy island, alone between the ocean and the mountains. It faces the open sea and its landscape shows the power of nature.
Its multiple and colorful small wooden houses together lying close to the Ocean and white - sandy beach makes Eggum a perfect spot to take great pictures.

Unstadvika - Unstad is one of Lofoten’s gems, with green meadows and lush mountainsides. Sheep graze along the roadside and at the base of the mountains that shoot up towards the sky.

After driving through the narrow tunnel towards Unstad you are presented with a picture-postcard view. If that isn’t reason enough to journey to this part of Lofoten, Unstad Beach happens to be one of the Norway’s best surf spots.

The beach serves as the starting point for one of the more relaxing hikes in Lofoten, perfect for families or after a few days hiking in the mountains. The quiet trail leads along the coast to Eggum. Along the way, you might meet some of the local population – like grazing sheep or a curious seal.

Henningsvaer - “Henningsvær, the place God had built without the help of surveyors and architects”: Henningsvær is the most famous and characteristic fishing village, also know as the Venice of the North.

Henningsvær is spread across a number of islands, with breakwaters and dikes bringing the fishing village together. The inhabitants were dependent on a ferry until 1982, when two bridges were built, linking the community with the rest of Austvågøya.
Many local shops and nice coffee shop to taste local and home-made cakes.

Kabelvag Church - On the boat crossing to the Lofoten Islands, the towers of Lofoten Cathedral are the first sign of human habitation. For 900 years, fishermen have prepared themselves for fishing in Lofoten at the church in Kabelvåg.
The Lofoten Cathedral has an unique position, facing the Fjord.

Discover the south of the archipelago

Nappstraumen - Napp is a small fishing village in the island of Flakstad.. The village is located on the northern part of the island. The village lies along the European route E10 highway, just west of the Nappstraum Tunnel which connects it to the neighboring island of Vestvågøya. A very tiny and characteristic fishing village and a good location to take beautiful pictures.

Ramberg - A wide and long sandy beach you can’t miss!

Hamnoy - Hamnøy isa small jewel located south, on the island of Moskensøy, with its picturesque port, fishermen’s small houses built in stilts, surrounded by high mountains, the oldest of northern Europe. You will get enchanted by the beauty and delicacy of this small hamlet of its few inhabitants.

Reine - Reine is one of Lofoten’s best known fishing villages and is the centre of municipal administration in the borough of Moskenes.
Reine is also one of Norway’s most frequently photographed landscapes, and a source of inspiration for many an artist.

Sakrisøya - Driving back home, we will stop in Sakrisøya where it will be possible to taste local fish and buy local products.

Lofoten Lights - 2 Days tour - I booked this tour with the "Lofoten Lights". Eric was our guide and he showed us so many many beautiful spots around the north island. We had another guide but I don't remember his name who took us to the south island. Recommend this tour if you have free time in the morning till afternoon. Well arrangement and professional travel agent.

Lovely Lofoten - We stayed on the Lofoten only for two nights. Not wanting to rent a car, we opted for the "2 - Day Winter Sightseeing & Photography Tour in Lofoten". We can highly recommend it! It gave us the best possible experience we could have wished for! We saw so many beautiful places/sceneries with our guide, Eric. Eric always made sure everybody got the time they needed for taking pictures, so that nobody felt rushed, yet we could still visit all the planned destinations. On the way there, Eric would share his knowlegde and fun facts on the surroundings and life on the Lofoten, as well as tips for where to best experience/photograph the Northern lights (even without car). On the second day, we even had all the car and time for ourselves, as the rest of the group from day 1 had only booked a one-day-trip. What a treat :) Thanks again, Eric!

A fantastic tour to explore Lofoten Islands - Lofoten - definitely one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. I had an amazing two-day tour - day 1 with guide and driver Andre, and day 2 with Eric. They’re are both very friendly and knowledgeable of the history and sights of the islands. Both days we only had a small group of people (3) so the experience was even more personable, with a lot of interactions with the guides. I was picked up right on time at my hotel in Svolvaer, and both tours lasted for 8 hours or so. The weather really cooperated and we had two days without any rain. We covered many beautiful and picturesque spots on the islands, and both Andre & Eric helped me to take a few pictures of myself so I didn’t need to use my selfie stick! I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to visit Lofoten. A great way to explore this magic place on earth!

Best tour to take to see in and around Lofoten islands and take some amazing photos. - We reached Svolvær on a very bad weather , it was raining and cloudy weather in December and I had booked 2 day photography tour with Lofoten Lights. My wife and I were worried on missing out on places in Lofoten as we had only 2 days with us. Next day we got picked up by Eric for our tour,he is a very warm and very friendly guide. He started out our tour by taking to a mirror art installed next to the mountain landscape it was very good, in 2 days he covered all the places which are listed in tour ,he is extremely knowledgeable ,he gave us so many facts,he is an amazing photographer and each and every framing of shots is very good.Even though it was a bad weather he made sure that we waited for getting good light and then he helped us taking many memories in form of photos . We will definitely come back in summer and book a photography tour with Lofoten lights for Eric our guide. He is very professional and an awesome tour guide.

Maurizio and Claudia: The couple with a heart for serving and soul of an adventurer - We had a great time with Maurizio. He showed us all the special places in Lofoten while telling us about the people around him. He is an implant from Italy and his passion drove him to Lofoten. Claudia made sure by calling us 3 times to see how we were doing and to make sure we enjoyed our trip. We connected with both Maurizio and Claudia right away and enjoyed the stories about Lofoten and its beauty. Maurizio made sure we stopped at special Kafe places around the island and provided us guide information throughout the tour. If you want to have a great time, and learn about the island from adventurers, i would recommend Lofoten Lights.. They are great people, great heart and great adventurer spirit.

Long Days in cramped van, but worth it - Excellent knowledgeable local guides who knew their way around the islands. Driving in Lofoten in the winter isn’t the easiest task in the world. 4/5 star rating due to companies choice in vehicles. 2 door cargo vans with room 8 seats + driver. Both Viator and local tour website stated that the tour maximum was 7 people. However, both days of tour, it was overbooked by 1, which made for cramped vehicle ride for people who had to ride in front seat with driver.
