Great experience - We had a successful whale watching trip 18th August. We saw a pod of 5 killer whales, we followed them around the coast line for about an hour and a half. It was great to watch them in their own habitat, going about their business. The guides on the boat were very knowledgeable and were also able to identify the family from their markings and give us details of the family.

Awesome wildlife encounters - Beautiful sunset tour with so much wildlife to see. Richard and Gord navigate the catamaran expertly around the whales and the crew Algebra and Sam had many interesting whale facts to tell.

Outstanding Crew and Ship - We spent an hour follow a pod of 5 orcas. Watched them hunt, separate, in playful splashing and track the shoreline. The crew was phenomenal. Captain and first officer were mingling with the clients answering questions. The naturalists onboard (Algebra , Mady, ?) on our trip did an outstanding job with background on the whale habits and history. We also saw sea lions and learned the difference between species. At first we thought a zodiac would be better but quickly learned it was better on the large catamaran the Salish Sea Eclipse. Smooth ride, indoor area if you got cold and restrooms. It’s the way to go.

Outstanding - We saw several pods of orcas & had the real pleasure to see a humpback as well. Samantha, our biologist naturalist, was very well versed and shared a ton of marine knowledge in a very friendly manner. Our 82 ft catamaran was very comfortable & the crew excellent in all respects. Would definitely recommend!

Amazing experience! - From my hotel, I walked to the waterfront for the 1/2 day whale watch (had bought my ticket online before I left Seattle). Prince of Whales is the tour company, and I was on the regular boat, not the kodiak. The staff was fun and friendly as we gathered, boarded, and grabbed first-come-first-serve seats on the boat. For solo travelers: this was my first time during the trip, and there were several, where I heard "just one?" when I checked-in. I don't think it's intentionally judgemental or mean, but it can get tiring. The whale watch - It was amazing!!!!! You have to go! We saw seals and sea lions and otters and birds and then -- a humpback whale! We were so lucky - the whale stayed with us so long that we eventually left (due to schedule) before it did. This whale (Orion as later identified) was visible for breaths, for dives (tail!), and did TWO breaches! The second breach including a body turn - it was amazing. We were so lucky that the on-board naturalists took photos because most of us were just shocked, watching + holding onto the railing. Yes, this tour company sends everyone a link to photos of all the wildlife seen on the trip. As a solo traveler - it was easier for me to snag a window seat or a seat on the outside front deck, so that's a benefit. Also, I found a few friendly /chatty people. That makes a big difference. They were all Canadian - locals or from Montreal. and that trend continued throughout the weekend. The friendly chatty people were locals. Final thought on the whale watch - please remember that it's partially a matter of luck and good timing. If we didn't see that one whale and if it didn't choose to stay and breach, we might have "only" seen the other marine life. That's ok - this is not like going to a zoo or aquarium. For example, I wanted to see orcas, but they were more south than us. I understood and wasn't disappointed. Oh, another final thought -- bring layers! Despite multiple reminders and guidance to dress warm and wear closed toe shoes, people didn't. It is cold and windy on a fast boat, especially if you want to be on the deck to see wildlife. If you wear shorts, tank top and flip flops -- you'll end up inside, hugging a cup of the complimentary hot cocoa. I wore long pants, sneakers, t-shirt and brought a light fleece jacket, windbreaker, fleece hat that would stay-on while windy, and even gloves. I felt silly about the gloves but on the return trip, I was happy to have them. Some people brought blankets which are nice to get cozy with family but not if you want to be mobile and walk around /spot wildlife.

Orca whale watching with my family - We had a great time! The crew including Captain Francois, First Mate Sandy, Sophie, Jamie and Maddie did a great job of locating and showcasing the orcas we saw. Such an amazing experience. Loved the catamaran with the big windows as my 91 year old mom had good views from the main cabin too. Loved the photos we received as well which meant I could simply enjoy looking at the whales and not having to worry about getting the perfect shot myself. Awesome day
