Day 1 Rafting
Have breakfast at your hotel before the 9 a.m. pickup, then head to our office for check-in. The first part of the rafting experience is a learning exercise, followed by Swimming Under The Spray Of The Victoria Falls. However, there’s no gradual build-up today; this 28 km stretch is the wildest section of the 3-day trip, featuring many class 5 rapids. Rapids on day one include Morning Glory, Stairway to Heaven, Land of The Giants, and The Devil’s Toilet Bowl. We’ll reach our beach campsite at rapid #21 around 4 p.m.
White water rafting - another long day on the Zambezi River enjoying some big rapids & portaging around Moemba Falls
Victoria Falls - Wake up to the smell of bacon and eggs as the sun illuminates the towering walls above. With all equipment securely stowed, we embark on a day filled with exhilarating action and stunning scenery. The evening involves two portages around Moemba Falls. We arrive at the Dam site around 4 p.m., where we’ll have the second portage and camp by the falls.
White water rafting- downstream the towering waves of Ghost rider, the biggest commercially runnable roller coaster wave
Victoria Falls - Enjoy a relaxed morning as we navigate the towering waves of Ghost rider, the world’s largest commercially runnable roller coaster wave train. During the original exploratory trip on the Zambezi, one rafter chose not to run the rapid and pushed his empty boat into the current. The sight of the empty raft successfully navigating the rapid inspired the name Ghost rider. After conquering Ghost rider, we’ll open our cooler boxes full of beers and drift down smaller rapids. We’ll reach camp around 4 p.m. after covering about 20 km.
White water rafting - drift past Fish Eagle’s nests, negotiate rapids Wave Train, Jay Bay a popular surfing place)
Victoria Falls - No rush today. After breakfast and rigging the boats, we depart camp late and paddle past small rapids before tackling a more technical rapid named Asleep At The Wheel. We then drift into camp. After leaving camp, we pass Fish Eagle’s nests and navigate rapids like Wave Train and Jay Bay (similar to Jeffrey’s Bay in South Africa, a popular surfing spot), Bismark’s Territory (home to a large crocodile named Bismark), and Smugglers Camp. This is the largest fisherman’s village on the 6-day trip, and the villagers are happy to show us around, offering a glimpse into a simple lifestyle free from the modern world.
White water rafting- Our rafts drift past islands in the river, havens for Egyptian Geese and basking crocs & hippos
Victoria Falls - The river’s character changes as basalt rocks give way to grassy banks, and the grunts of hippos echo across the water. Our rafts drift past islands that are havens for Egyptian Geese and basking crocodiles. After a few hours, we rendezvous with our vehicles near the Matetsi River mouth.
