Highlights

Choose from a morning or afternoon tour, and then start your tour with a pickup from your centrally located Victoria Falls hotel. On your way to the falls, stop on the banks of the Zambezi River for a photo op next to ‘The Big Tree’ — an impressive baobab that is believed to be more than 1,000 years old.

Continue by minibus to the rainforest that fringes Victoria Falls, and then set off on a walk along the lush trails while learning all about the world-famous waterfall. Listed as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, the waterfall is also known as Mosi-oa-Tunya, meaning ‘smoke that thunders’ in Kololo. The name resonates: you can see the mist of the roaring falls from some 20 miles (32 km) away.

As you explore the pretty rainforest trails that surround the falls, marvel at the sight of the Zambezi River plunging down a series of basalt gorges. At roughly 1.2 miles (2 km) wide and 360 feet (108 m) tall, Victoria Falls is one of the world’s largest waterfalls — approximately twice the size of Niagara Falls.

Look out for Livingstone’s Statue that looks out over the Devil’s Cataract — a natural pool that marks the lowest point of the falls — and learn about the monument’s namesake, David Livingstone. The intrepid explorer brought Victoria Falls to the world’s attention when he stumbled upon them in 1855. Instantly stunned by the falls’ grandeur, he decided to name them after Queen Victoria.

After two hours of exploring the rainforest trails around the waterfall, return to your coach and finish your tour with a hotel drop-off.

When we first got to Zimbabwe and... -
When we first got to Zimbabwe and learned that we could do the walking tour of the falls on our own, we were angry that we had booked a guided walking tour online. After the experience, all I can say to you is that IT IS WORTH IT!

VERY IMPORTANT: For some reason, after you book the tour through Viator your e-voucher will say that it does not include the 30USD park entrance fee. This is not the case. The 60 INCLUDES THE PARK FEES, so keep that in mind if it seems expensive!

Our guide, Shamiso, was AMAZING. He spent 3.5 hours with us on a walking tour that should have taken 1.5-2 hours we were enjoying ourselves that much. He gave excellent background information on the falls and at each viewing point, took excellent pictures for us, and was fine to wait for about 15 minutes at the bridge viewing point for us to watch someone bungee jump. His positive energy was contagious this is a guy who, for many years has given at least 2 tours a day of the falls, and is still taking his own photos and excited to share information with visitors. After the tour, he offered to stop in town if we needed anything a huge plus since our hotel was a few miles away from town and could only be reached via an hourly shuttle. We had briefly mentioned to him that we never had a chance to see the Victoria Falls Hotel, and he took is straight over there on our way home, walked us through the grounds, and took a few photos of us as well. The guided tours also provide raincoats, which is a MUST if you dont want to be soaked. Overall, an excellent experience with an amazing tour guide.

Tour Guide could not find the second reservation and so had to pay again which dampened the mood. Not sure if this was viators fault or the tour guide.
