Additional Information

Seek out thrills in Zimbabwe by joining a white-water rafting excursion on the Zambezi River, departing from Victoria Falls. Guided by experts, you’ll navigate one of the premier one-day whitewater stretches globally. Here the river dives into a chasm at Victoria Falls, dividing the tranquil waters upstream from the churning white-water downstream. This gorge starts at an impressive depth of over 328 feet (100 meters) right by the falls and widens to surpass 650 feet (200 meters) by the conclusion of the entire day’s rafting journey. You can opt for either a half-day or full-day adventure, subject to what’s available. The water level at the time of your trip will determine if you’ll be embarking on either low- or high-water rafting.

  • No age restriction as long the child can swim, weighs at least 50 lbs (23 kg), fits in a Class 5 youth life jacket, and has a parent’s permission; if weight is less than 50 lbs, he or she can only do Level 3 rapids and must skip the Level 5 rapids (this will also depend on the guide’s decision on which rapids or sections your child can do)
  • Please make sure to wear a T-shirt, shorts, and proper shoes for rafting and hiking up and down the canyon

Recommend Whitewater Rafting! - I love whitewater rafting. I've been fortunate to always have great experiences and great guides, and today was no different. The guides were wonderful (shout out: Steve! who has 28 years of experience out on the water), and we were able to raft from rapids 11-24 on the Zambezi. Plus, I really enjoyed the hike both up and down the gorge to get to and from our landing sites (though, I admit, if you're not used to a little scrambling during your hikes, it may be a little daunting).

Family rafting on the Zambezi - Victoria Falls - The trip was absolutely amazing. The crew was super helpful and professional. Safety was their main priority. The drinks and lunch afterwards was super delicious. The skippers on the boats were well trained and looked after us. The photos and video was also great. I will recommend them to everybody!

I am a non swimmer but i did great by following safety instructions that we had been briefed earlier. Amazing rafting! - Amazing rafting down the Zambezi! The crew insured our safety throughout the rafting trip and were very friendly. I can’t remember everyone’s names but Titi, BJ and Silent were all lovely as well as the whole crew who always offered help. The lunch and cold drinks provided after rafting was tasty and much needed. The walk back to the top of the gorge after rafting is very steep so keep this in mind if you do not have a reasonable level of fitness.

Shockwave Adventures- Best Rafting on the Zambezi River - We had an amazing time rafting with Shockwave Adventures. The staff (OG, Mr. Nice guy, Pumba, Milton and Macbeth ) were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The rapids were very fun and we were able to swim in the Zambezi River during part of the trip down. The lunch served after we were done rafting was delicious as well!

Worth to do when in Vic Falls! - Experience was wonderful! Just maybe organized should be bit better. Before experience, I have been taken to agency office at least 1 hour earlier before others arrived. Don't know why.

Challenging but fun - The actual rafting part was cool. There were beautiful surroundings and the crew was awesome. However, be aware that the hike in and out of the gorge is strenuous. Getting out of the gorge is about 1000 feet in elevation straight up hill with weird ladders that are not attached to anything. You are required to carry your life jacket, oar, and the bottle of water they provide before going up the hill. Definitely difficult to navigate. One young woman was crying due to the difficulty. This is not ideal for small children or anyone who is not in decent shape. Also, we were picked up in an open air truck that was quite chilly in the morning. The return trip is over an hour as you travel through villages. That was cool to see, but we were also dropping off workers. Overall the experience was decent.
