Long weekend - We had a wonderful long weekend and The Big Bustour was very important to our overall enjoyment of our visit. We booked the 48 hour ticket doing the red route one day and the blue the next and we found this was an excellent way to get the best out of our visit. Thoroughly recommendit

Siggi - the best tour guide I know! - I was in Vienna on business and had a day off on Sunday, which I wanted to use to visit the city. I looked it up online and came across the Big Bus Vienna Tour. I bought a ticket and took the red route first. It was great! The tour takes you past all the interesting and important sights. You have a great view from the panorama deck of the bus and the bus drives very slowly or even stops at the important places, so you always have enough time to look at the buildings. There is also a very high-quality audio commentary, spoken in German by an Austrian woman (at least according to the dialect). Very informative and entertaining. And the staff are very, very friendly and helpful. At 1:30 p.m. I then took part in the guided walking tour through the city center. And that was the absolute highlight of my trip! Our tour guide was Siggi Jany, an absolutely brilliant and born tour guide! You can tell with every sentence how much he loves his job. He led us through Vienna's history with incredible charm and wit and gave us one or two "insider tips" for cafés, restaurants, etc. The only bad thing about the tour was that it was over so quickly! I could listen to Siggi all day long and hear his anecdotes and stories from and about Vienna, and not just the 90 minutes allotted for the tour. Thank you again, Siggi, for the great tour and hopefully we'll see each other again! Best wishes from Switzerland Christoph

Great tour. - Had a great time on the hop on hop off buses listening to the information about the city. Each tour was about 2 hours though so some of the longest I've done. I only wish I'd paid for the 48 hour pass.

Great way to see the highlights - I love the hop-on hop-off buses because you get a tour as well as transportation. it's always the first thing we do when we go to a city for the first time. Gives a great overview then convenient transportation to where you want to get off and explore more. The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is that we bought a deluxe ticket that included a nighttime tour of the city. It would have been great had the interior lights been turned off, but all we saw the whole time were our own reflections.

Terrible customer service. - I spoke to a total of two people from Big Bus and they were both extremely rude. Some tourists (including us) decided to stay on the bus at stop 1. The bus stopped, people got off and nobody made any sort of announcement. Then, 15 minutes later in the sun and heat, people started complaining with each other. One tourist looked over the window and asked a lady when the bus was leaving as we've been sitting there for 15 minutes without information. She replied, in a rude tone - Questions, questions, questions! We all looked at each other, shocked. The next day we were at stop one for the blue line. I tried to get the attention of the man standing at the stop, to ask about the walking tour. He said- what can I do for you? while looking at his phone. So I waited for him to stop looking at his phone so I could ask, he annoyingly put his phone down and said WHAT? Except for our tour guide in the walking tour, who was great, everyone else in the company seemed to hate tourists and their job. Not the experience we seemed at all.

Waste of money, longer waits than advertised , they no showed for the cruise - Rip off. Not as advertised. Do not recommend. The buses had longer wait times than advertised (45+ minutes at times). We ended up getting a taxi two times due to the extended wait times. The app and website are poor and frustrating. We bough the 48 hrs pass through TripAdvisor and paid more for a 48 hrs (versus 24) because it included a river cruise and walking tour. We showed up at the cruise location and time posted both in the app and on the pamphlet on the bus - no one showed - so we couldn’t do the cruise that we paid for as part of the package. Instead of feeling ripped off for paying for two 24 hour tickets for poorly timed busses, we were even more disappointed that we were roped into paying more for 48 hrs with the cruise that we couldn’t even participate in because they no showed. I requested and received a refund for $23 USD of the $117 USD I paid but that does not feel like it made things right.

SCAM - DO NOT USE THIS TOUR. Would not book this tour. I paid for and was charged for a cruise. The cruise was not open to take. They refused to refund the portion of the payment for the cruise. I am reporting actions to my credit cars as fraudulent as they advertised a service and charged but it was not available. The date it was closed was 3/10.

One of my worst Big Bus tour experiences - The agent was not to be seen for an hour plus. I tried to contact through Viator aap and no response. Walked an hour to get to next Big Bus tour office. We got the last bus and only could do one route.

Dreadful - While I love hop on hop off buses, this one was terrible! Unless you don’t hop on hop off , there is no way you can enjoy this messy service! I bought a 48hr pass because it was the only one offering a Danube river cruise ! I stayed only 2 days in Vienna and the schedule was very tight . It was first time in Vienna and we came all the way from Australia! Due to the short stay we decided to buy this pass although we had another trip booked for Schonbrunn palace. The pass offered two trips ( red route ( city) and blue route ( castle route) as well as a Danube cruise & walk-in tour. It felt like good value for money ($200) although we had no need of the blue route. First day we had a lovely walking tour of the city centre … and the pleasant experience ended there! When we boarded the bus , my digital ticket was replaced by yellow tickets. I was told those were the tickets to use for the rest of the trips . We boarded the bus and nobody handed us headsets or explained where to find them . We had to figure out the earbuds were packed and available in a basket next to the driver. We missed on a couple of information but we said ok. Next , we hopped off wanting to visit something and then we couldn’t use the app ( the more you zoom on the map the smaller the signs ) so good luck to those wearing reading glasses. We couldn’t see when the next bus was about to come , the app is non intuitive and also freezes. The bus stops are rarely marked in this company colours/logos . We used Big Bus’ paper maps and, to our surprise, we found a bus turning left before reaching the bus stop, leaving us freezing in the middle of the road ( totally not cool ) . There was no return route at the Museums station so it was clearly the bus we were waiting for ! We decided on taking the red route to go to the Danube cruise. Although we discussed with Big Bus’s reps about our cruise, none of them told us we had to change the yellow tickets again (!) . Also, Nobody told us there were no Danube cruises in winter! We discovered (written on the ticket ) that we had to change the ticket for a DSSG ticket , at one of their stations - Blue Danube. I asked Big Bus via their chat( through their mobile app). I got no answer while I was in the bus heading there! Then the answer was like “ yes you must exchange tickets at DSSG - but without indicating WHERE that office was although my question was clear and simple(as if we were supposed to know who DSSG was). Before hopping off, we asked the driver who shook his shoulders as if he had no idea. ( Note: Their drivers speak no English, have an attitude and are totally unhelpful..so you are on your own !) We were left at Blue Danube stop pier3 with no clue about what we were supposed to do. There were 6degrees and it started to rain . We kept walking and found a DSSG office. The lady there explained there were no river cruises in winter! The only cruise was on a canal not the river (the grafitti canal) and their office was 40 min away on foot ( we couldn’t arrive on time)! This was so not what they advertised!! It took us 15 min of misery to find an underground station and head back to the city ( windy, rainy, 6 degrees). It was definitely no fun, especially when we were rushing to visit other attractions! I did not sign up for a graffiti canal cruise but on a Danube river cruise. They should have made that clear! They should have also explained about cruise timings as well as differences between A,B,C cruises plus the need to exchange the tickets and where! I worked in tourism for many years and I find this company totally unprofessional! I asked for a refund and they played deaf/stupid on their chat page ( via app). If you want a hop on hop off , probably “Vienna sightseeing” is better. At least their stops are clearly marked ( unlike Big Bus) amd their drivers are willing to pick you up if they see you waiting
