Highly recommend - This really was an excellent day out. Got to the main bus station on U3 direct from our hotel. It was right next door and a smallish station so really easy to find bus. My instructions told me to get off at 2nd bus stop SNP Most, and meeting point was 2 minutes away. There were only 5 of us in the group so easy to hear and ask questions. The tour did take 2 hours rather than 1 which was our gain. Lunch was soup and then chicken and chips, the others had coffee and cake option. All lovely. Plenty of free time so walked to castle and blue church. Then had coffee and cake in oldest coffee shop. The honey cake was one of nicest cakes ever had. Our guide was Yuri (spelt wrong) and was excellent.

Best experience - I thought visiting Bratislava, Slovakia was an amazing place to visit. I thought guided tour was fantastic the man who did the guide tour was very knowledgeable about the history of the city, which is something I've learnt about. It was worth having a 2 course lunch which was free.

Vienna to Bratislava more for less - We took a day trip via the public bus OBB for 4€90 ticket return. This ticket can be used in Bratislava as well. It’s a 1 hour drive. Drops u off at central station(last station) .YOu can either walk or catch a bus to the city center. We walked used google maps. safe to walk. We only realised later that we could have used the same ticket multiple times. We had organised a tour guide but he didn’t pitch. (City and castle tour, introduction to Bratislava). It was nice enjoyable day. We actually met a guide in the city center who volunteered to give us a tour for 2 hrs and charged us 30€ for 2. We ended paying her more for her kindness and knowledge. We did most of the sites except the ones that were far from the city center. Lovely country. You don’t need to pay lots of money for an organised tour with lunch. You can find your way. I’m not from Europe and we managed without getting lost. Just plan your activities in advance. GPSmycity and Citymapper are helpful. We had lunch at one of the restaurants. Beautiful small city with character.

City to see - Perfect bus transportation. On the other hand, the restaurant is oversold in the all-inclusive tour...choose your own, there are plenty of nice ones and cheaper ones...the guide doesn't give much guidance for the solo suite...

A somewhat qualified success - I found Bratislava a charming town. The tour guiding was minimal: we were unaccompanied on the journey out and back and the tour guide only gave us an hour of her time before dumping us at a restaurant for a pre-booked meal. My meal itself was unsatisfactory. I am vegetarian with digestive issues, and the food available did not really suit me. The time keeping of the buses out and back was fine.

Cozy city - It was nice to hear the history of Bratislava and Slovakia. The guide was good and engaging. It was nice that lunch is included, and the restaurant was cozy and there was good food to be had. The negative is that one hour with a guide is quite short. There is too little time to take in everything and guided tours feel rushed.

Google it! - When my friend asked our guide a question, she was more interested in getting everything done by the clock, so she told her to Google it. When asked how we return to the original meeting place to find the bus back to Vienna, she said it was not her responsibility, her only responsibility was the tour. She said Google it. Bratislava bustles with little shops and lots of history. We did not learn any until we googled it. I took a stab at it and guessed the big beautiful building I found on my walk around town was the opera house. I googled it and I was right! No lunch prepared for vegetarians. Googled it! Find a guide who cares about Bratislava and other people. Google it!
