Budapest is a spectacular city - Our Budapest tour was very enjoyable and Interesting. We were greeted with great panoramic views of the Danube diving in two, the Castle, Basicillica, Parliament Buildings viewed across the river and much more. The city on both the Buda and Pest sides were bustling with good restaurants, shops and many tourists. Thanks to our driver guide (Peter) with Viator small group was very knowledgeable, good interpersonal skills, interactive and made our trip from Vienna fun.

Long drive but such a beautiful destination! - This lake region of the Alps is spectacular and SO worth the visit. Due to the small size of Hallstatt, I recommend visiting in the shoulder season to avoid the larger crowds. The drive is about 4 hours one way, but the guide made it interesting with information about the areas we traveled through. The last hour is all beautiful scenery. You will have approximately 3 hours in Hallstatt, then a 15-20 minute ferry ride across the lake before leaving. My favorite place was to walk in the opposite direction from town and picnic at the park. A mandatory 1/2 hour rest stop is necessary for the driver in both directions which was good for us as it broke up the long drive and gave an opportunity to stretch our legs. A long day, left at 7:15am and returned at 8:30pm, so be prepared.

Underwhelming - Hallstatt itself is absolutely beautiful. Four hours there is way too long as there isn’t anything to do. The drive there is very long and they take you to an overpriced rest stop on the way there and the way back.

Beautiful place but way too crowded and touristy - This tour is a good option if you are in Vienna with no car, limited time, and want to see another part of Austria, which was admittedly spectacular. However, avoid in peak summer months if you're not a fan of crowds. The tour group itself was very large, and Hallstatt was absolutely packed with tourists. I didn't have time to take the funicular up to the sky walk during our free time because the line was so long. Also our guide was very nice but did not stop talking nearly the entire bus ride (3+ hours both ways) and was very repetitive.

WORST TOUR EVER--AVOID THIS SCAM - This is the worst Viator experience I have had. The tour did not include the tour of Hallstatt as promised and the tour guide basically disappeared after we got off the bus. He gave no tips on what to do at the stop and then drove off with the bus. The bus ride did not include commentary because the speakers were broken and the tour guide had an outburst and blamed us for this. The breaks were too many at stops where the food was overpriced just so the tour guides could get free meals. The breaks were longer than the actually tour and as a result go back 3+ hours late. DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR or risk being disappointed.
