A charming and impressive view on Sound and Music - Really really great place for the whole family! Not too large but with great variety of interactive presentations of sound and music. The children can create sounds and music through motion, listen to various musical instruments and even conduct an orchstra with Zubin Mehta! When visiting this museum you can really get the imprerssion on how significant music was - and maybe still is - in Vienna. The museum's shop is also charming and you can purchase lots of cool souvenirs and items related to music there. The museum is conveniently located near Karlplatz. You just have to go straight towards Stephansplatz and it's one of the first streets on the right.

Very interactive and worth the money - This museum has something for everyone. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and think it was our favourite museum in the whole of Vienna. It is very interactive for children to get involved in and I would definitely recommend going, just to experience conducting an orchestra! Definitely worth the money and a visit.

Vienna House of Music Review - The Haus der Musik (House of Music) in Vienna offers a unique, interactive experience that's perfect for anyone interested in exploring music and sound. Visitors can immerse themselves in creative exhibits, like conducting a virtual orchestra—a highlight that allows you to step into the conductor's role and interact with digital musicians. However, it’s best to visit during quieter times, as the sound-based displays can overlap and detract from each other if the museum is busy. The staircase keyboard leading up to the first floor is a fun touch, setting a playful and interactive tone right from the start. Each floor offers new perspectives on sound, from the science of hearing to playful, musical installations that are suitable for all ages. If you’re interested in an in-depth experience, try to arrive when the museum opens or visit on a weekday for a more relaxed pace.

Haus der Music hits the right note - We had a fun and educational two hours here. The museum is interactive and well described in English. It is definitely family friendly. Our highlight was the opportunity to conduct the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Hah!

Well worth a visit when you’re in Vienna - a must do for music lovers and families with young children - Haus der Musik is well worth a visit if you’re in Vienna, regardless of age or musical experience. There are plenty of interactive elements such as the piano stairs on the way to the first floor, a sit-down concert experience (Vienna Philharmonic), and an excellent sound exploration area which I found really fascinating. Take your time to explore each floor (I think there were around 4 floors), should be a good few hours.

Very nice museum - This museum includes exhibits and history regarding to some of the greatest composers. The most fun part was conducting a computer-driven orchestra using a baton

Interesting museum of music - I went to Haus der Musik this morning as it was raining and one of the best parts was sitting in the theatre watching and listening to the Wiener Philharmoniker but that was right at the start on the first floor and I didn’t know how long I would need for the other 3 floors so after 2 pieces I kept going. Some parts are less interesting than others. On the second floor if you already know about sound, you can move through quickly. The third floor took the longest as there was a section for each composer and if you wanted to read the screen about their life (only 2 per room), be aware there are many pages but the touch screens don’t work that well. On the fourth floor you can conduct the Wiener Philharmoniker virtually to one of a few pieces - I did The Blue Danube and it’s quite hard work actually but fun. Note there is a second set up after the first one so you don’t have to queue all that first one. There is then a souvenir shop before exiting. It’s not absolutely amazing but if you’re looking for something to do for a couple of hours and you are interested in the Viennese classics, it’s not a bad way to spend some time. I’m glad I went but it’s not a must do activity.

Only one floor was worth it - We found this museum because my father remembered visiting a very impressive music museum/hall the last time he was in Vienna. This was not the same place haha. But we still gave it a go. The first part of the exhibition was not really interesting for me. It had a small theatre playing videos of an orchestra, information about some maestros, a wax figure of a composer I didn’t know and an interactive game that was cute but hard to control. The following part also felt very mixed; it had random facts about music and sound, as well as replicas of very bid instruments and a projection of something galaxy-inspired that didn’t really fit the aesthetic/vibe of the rest of the museum. The top floor, however, was actually pretty good as it was about the world’s most important classical music composers. Each one had its own room, with its corresponding story, pieces and aesthetic. I really liked this area! It is very complete and interactive, while also being brief and enjoyable. In general, this is not a bad museum. It seems to be a bit kid-oriented and needs to feel more cohesive. I think it is a bit expensive for what you get, but it’s not bad.
