Stunning treasures - If you only visit one museum in Vienna make it this one. It reveals how breathtaking the wealth of the Hapsburg Empire was. A couple of hours will pass in a flash!

Good - The Kunsthistorisches Museum is highly recommended. Also the Treasury where the crown jewels of the monarchy are kept. From crowns to sceptres much to see.

Not to be overlooked - You’ve been to all the major art museums, this is the one that completes the picture. Two hours is enough for your first visit…fyi we visited a second time within days and learned even more.

You will treasure this museum - We visited the Imperial Treasury of Vienna, where we saw an impressive collection of crowns, jewellery, robes and other riches. While there are sign boards throughout that explain the various displays, I highly recommend purchasing the audio guide. That way, you can listen to detailed descriptions of the pieces as well as historical information. Also, the Treasury is quite dark and sometimes crowded, which can make it frustrating to try to read the signs, so it's better to listen on the handset. The Treasury is set up as a series of small rooms to explore, but it can be a bit of a maze. Make sure you follow the numbers of the rooms and displays to make sure you don't miss anything. We had to double-back when we realized we missed a room or two.

Hit or miss museum - It was an above average museum for me. There were quite a few Crown Jewels and artefacts in the museum. But generally, it was a little crowded with many people blocking my view trying to take photos. Most of my photos taken turned out to be too dark because of the dim lights.

Bigger than expected - So many amazing treasury items and much bigger than I expected. Unfortunately for us there was a fire alarm drill in place and we had to leave just as we’d entered. We had to wait for a while in the square and by the time we got back in we had to do a quick run round before we missed our flight! But what we did see was truly fascinating. Lots of crowns, robes, sceptres and jewellery! Stunning! No photos allowed inside

Imperial Treasury Vienna in the Hofburg Palace - The Imperial Treasury Vienna contains the treasure collection of the Hofburg dynasty. Some of the unique collection includes a unicorn horn (it is long and doesn’t look like the unicorn horn in the movie), the Imperial Crown and the Holy Lance, agate bowl (the world’s largest cut emerald). Though comparatively speaking, it is less impressive than the other great museums at Vienna.

Thought this would be more interesting - Spent about an hour here but you could easily spend far more time at this museum if you listened to everything on the audio guide and read all the info provided. It was quite hot inside and only pockets of the museum seemed to have ventilation. Thought this would be a little more like London in terms of Crown Jewels to see, but this included far more clothing/vestments, small carved statues, and relics. Definitely some cool stuff worth seeing (see photos below), and we bought the KHM combo ticket because of all the museums included.

Museum Experience - Hard to figure out what was what and where to redeem the ticket, had to go back and forth between museums to sort it out. This was not clear in the booking details. I reached out to the company for support and clarification but got no response or help.
