Additional Information

This journey will familiarize you with Vienna’s traditional meals. The stroll through Vienna’s historic first district takes you to various dining places that serve genuine Viennese food. Local Viennese tour guides will navigate you through the concealed pathways of the city’s old town. We’ll make several stops at different venues for meals and beverages along the way. Not only will you enjoy the food but also taste Viennese wine, beer, and Schnapps. Non-alcoholic options are available at all the places we visit. Most of the time, we’ll be frequenting true ‘Beisls’ renowned for their abundance and sincere food.

Take note: The Viennese cuisine is often fairly rich. If you aim to shed pounds during your city tour, this excursion may not suit you.

Schnitzel will not be featured on the menu. However, we’ll gladly recommend excellent places for it if you’re keen.

The tour has an approximated duration of three hours.

Location
Fahnengasse
The meeting point is at the corner of Fahnengasse and Wallnerstraße. There is a car dealership for a car company called polestar there.

A great experience - It was exactly as advertised. Our host Roland was very engaging. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Vienna and how that history relates to food. He took us to several local places to sample the food the locals eat. There was more food than we could eat. It was our first night in town so it was a great way to get our bearings. It was a fun and tasty evening.

Book this and you will experience far more than great food - This was like an evening with your friend in Vienna. We went to places we would never have found on our own filled with charm and history and delicious food. We experienced the countryside and the city via our pallets along with exploring and seeing sights not shared on our city walking tour. Roland provided us with such an amazing insight into the character (and stomachs) of Vienna and its surrounding countryside. If we could give this six stars we would. It was definitely one of the best memories we have of our time in Vienna.

Food Tour Vienna - Very Good!!!!!! - Roland was a very good guide with a lot of background knowledge. The selected restaurants were all very good and some would be very difficult to find as a tourist. The food and drinks were consistently very good. All in all, a very successful evening. Many thanks to Roland!!!!!

Best food tour ever! - We have been on food tours in many cities but none as good as this. Our guide, Roland, is a resident of the area and truly knows the best spots. We had a sampling of authentic Austrian food. Roland is extremely knowledgeable, easy to get along with, someone who you would enjoy being your friend. Book this tour, you will not regret it!

Wonderful Food Tour with Our Guide Roland - Roland was extremely personable and knowledgeable about Vienna's historic food culture. We had such a great time sampling the delicious Authentic Vienna Cuisine and enjoyed Roland's company immensely. I would highly recommend this tour for any "foodies" or those who are wanting a get a true taste (pun intended) of Vienna's culture.

Maybe the best food tour of your life - do not miss!! - I have been on many food tours all around Europe, but this was one of the best, if not the best, food tour! It's exactly what I wanted from a food tour: - great food, with an emphasis on traditional dishes from the region - an introduction to food customs, including fun stories of the history of the dishes and how they relate to culture (for example, why do you never cut a bread dumpling with the sharp side of a knife?) - I good mix of historical background and information about the city; while it was a food tour, you get a tour of Vienna as a great bonus - a funny, affable host that really enjoys the subject matter of the tour; Roland's enthusiasm for food, history, and culture were always impressive - a knowledgable guide: from recipes, cooking techniques, historical stories, and Austrian customs, Roland answered all my questions and more!

Well cooked local dishes - There were three couples at this dinner. Pia is an excellent cook and everything was locally sourced and plentiful. The wines were very good and bottles were opened as needed. No one left hungry or thirsty. I would have liked more explanation about how the food was prepared and its Viennese origins.
