Wachau Valley - Leaving Vienna behind you, travel in a comfortable vehicle to the country’s best winemaking region, the Wachau Valley for a fully guided day tour. Renowned for its quality wines, stunning villages and breathtaking scenery, it is the perfect place to enjoy a day away from the city. You’ll see the whole of the Wachau Valley while learning about its fascinating culture and history and sampling local wine as well as some other delicacies like the valley’s famed local specialties.

Besides the highlights, you’ll break away from the crowds to also see the more authentic and off-the-beaten-track landscapes. You also have the chance to visit the valley’s oldest church, dating back to the year 987.

Burgruine Duernstein - Arrive in the UNESCO-listed Dürnstein
a picturesque medieval town famous for being where Richard the Lionheart was held captive in 1192. There, enjoy some free time to explore the streets and the castle ruins.
Vinotake Duernstein - Afterwards you’ll go for lunch in a traditional family-run Austrian wine tavern (not included).
Danube River - Enjoy a one hour river cruise on the famous Blue Danube between the small villages of Spitz and Melk. (Summer itinerary)
Melk Abbey - Before returning back to Vienna, you’ll see Melk Abbey (Stift Melk) - entrance included during the winter months, a world-famous Benedictine abbey founded in 1089. Guided by a knowledgeable local, visit eye-catching villages and historical landmarks such as the UNESCO World Heritage site, the medieval town of Dürnstein, known for its association with Richard the Lionheart. Further, witness the beauty of the Wachau Valley from a different viewpoint via a 70-minute picturesque Danube river journey (accessible between May to September) between the antique villages of Spitz and Melk.

Best day on vacation! - Marco and Tomas were amazing guides for the day. They were fun, helpful, and talkative in the best way. This was our favorite day in Austria because of them. We learned so much about the Wachau Valley and their unique wine. But it was always fun.

Magnificent, excellent and so enjoyable! - Had a wonderful day with our tour guide Marco. It was a beautiful drive out to the Wachau Valley where we sampled lovely, unique wines from the region. Most of the wines are hand picked, so the quality is excellent. Then we visited a medieval town that was just amazing. Had a lovely lunch in the beautiful gardens of a local restaurant that offered local specialties of meat and cheeses, followed by a cruise up the Danube which was breathtaking! Thank you Marco for your warm hospitality and making the day a seamless one for everyone on the tour. Hopefully your Austrian friends can “throw the ball back” to you soon 🤣🤣 Rock on buddy! 🤘

Relaxing day filled with wine, good fun and a river cruise - I went in mid-May and Marco was our guide. He was very personable and his passion about the wine in the Wachau Valley area was infectious. I love the lunch spot at the tavern. It was so pretty and relaxing. Food was good too. We had a taste of the different types of wine grown in the region and got to view the unique stone terraced vineyards. Wish the stop at Durstein was about 15 min longer but it's not a deal breaker. The river cruise was lovely too - it was a great way to view the sights along the Danube River. Thumbs up!
