Bioluminescent Bay Kayak Tour: Explore the Brightest Bio Bay in the World with Vieques Kayaks

Experience the brightest Bioluminescent Bay in the world with Vieques Kayaks. Explore Mosquito Bay in clear and semi-clear bottom kayaks and paddle the glow of the Bio Bay!

Duration: 1 hour, 30 minutes
Cancellation: 24 hours
Highlights
  • Bioluminescent Mosquito Bay - This excursion is located on the island of Vieques, Puerto Rico. In order to participate in our tour, an overnight stay on Vieques is required. Vieques is a separate island off of the main island of Puerto Rico. You will need to take a plane or ferry from the main island of Puerto Rico to reach Vieques, and you will need to arrange separate ground transportation because you will not be able to bring a rental car on the ferry with you. Because we only offer tours at night so that our clients can experience the glow of the bay, even if you take our earliest tour, you will not be back to our meeting point with enough time to get on a ferry or a plane back to the main island on the same day. Our guides will meet you in Esperanza directly across from Rainbow Realty (278 Calle Flamboyan). Roundtrip from the meeting point, the excursion is 2 hours, time on the bay about 1.5 hours, weather permitting. We provide transportation from the meeting point to the Bio Bay entrance and back.
What's Included
  • Round trip transportation from the meeting point to the Bio Bay entrance
  • Guide
  • Paddle and Life Jacket

Magical experience - Amazing experience!!! The tour is well organized and the tour guide was helpful and fun. My husband and I had no kayaking experience and it was not an issue, we were able to keep up with the group and the experience felt safe.

Great Experience Like Nothing Else! - Everything was beautiful, just like imagined! I only wish I had captured some of it in photos or video. It was just too dark for my Android. Next time I am bringing a GoPro or something equipped for night filming.

Amazing bioluminescent experience! - We had an amazing time! We booked our trip near a full moon, which isn’t ideal, but the tour company moved our depart time to ensure we could see the bioluminescence before the moon rose. The tour guides were engaging and very friendly! We would recommend!

Magic is real - Lulu was our guide. She was amazing and explained natural wonders of the bay clearly. She arrived at the meet site about 15 minutes before departure time. We left on time. It was a truly magical experience that I highly recommend.

Disconnect and Live In the Moment. 1-of-a-kind Experience. - We had LuLu as our guide. She was wonderful! Knowledgable about the science behind the bioluminescence, and also relatable and fun to talk to. You will never be able to spend enough time out on the water. As far as phone cameras or photography in general- unless you know your device can take really good low light photos, put the technology down and just love in the moment. Let the water run down your arm, slice your paddle under the water. Chase a Nurse Shark. LuLu sent us good pics from past experiences so we didn't have to stress the technology. The best part was being able to see all movement under the water!

Do not miss this - It was magical. The sliver of crescent moon, the milkyway, the lights of St Thomas on the horizon, rain drops sparking on the water, fireflies, fish and paddles igniting the water & LuLu. What a bus driver. A wealth of information. YOU MUST DO THIS.

Not highly recommended - A week ago I did the tour with Lulu, I was really quite disappointed. First, because I paid through trip advisor for a 5-person tour $276 and was charged $308. It was supposed to be kayaks, transparent or semi, we were 3 kayaks of which there was only one that had a piece of the clear ground, the others none. For all this I feel cheated, not to mention the conditions of the life jackets that were disgusting and Lulu who had knowledge of the bay but is unfriendly.. I prefer Fajardo's bioluminescence, it's cuter, the water is cleaner and the tour is more fun. I don't recommend it.
