Picture great - It is interesting to move the water around with the stick but I thought the best thing was watching the fish zip through the water. Also, the guide got a bucket of water and put it in the boat and we could see the tiny pinpricks of light moving around in the water

Good communication - Steve called early in the day to let us know that the bay was not glowing on the night of our tour. We only had one night in Vieques, so we were not able to reschedule this tour, but had plenty of time to figure out something else. I appreciate the communication, even though we didn't get to go on the tour!

This tour is five stars. I loved our guides. They really made the trip. - The experience was delightful. We did the small boat tour, rather than the kayaking, because we had a friend from San Juan come in at the last minute, and we also don’t share kayaks well as a family. We’ve been on a lot of kayaking adventures, and in tandem kayaks, we always end up in a big fight! So we thought we would take this boat tour instead. This is also my second bioluminescent Bay tour, having taken the one in Jamaica. This tour is five stars. I loved our guides. They really made the trip. One of our guides was more of a biologist and explained the local flora and fauna to us and how bioluminescence and phytoplankton worked, and the other was his fun and jovial companion. It was so interesting to watch them together. This exchange sums it up beautifully. Biologist: “there’s some sort of light flashing across the sky. It’s probably just space junk.” His jovial companion: “It’s a shooting star! Make a wish!” We boated out to a very dark spot, where we also had a beautiful night sky. The biologist/main guide explained a lot of the history involving the Pirates, and again, he was also really wonderful at pointing out local birds and plants on the bank while we boated. We were all given long sticks to stir up the water as we boated along. The tour company were exceedingly well organized. Even sending us a photo of what the van looked like before we arrived. I’m assuming many people have somehow missed this tour before. Because the tour operators were very cautious and very, helpful with information before the tour. We also had our friend who lives in San Juan join us at the last minute, and we were so happy they were able to accommodate that request. At one point, when we had stopped the boat, The companion pulled up a big bucket of water into the boat, and we were able to run our hands through it and watch it sparkle. Since we were not going on a swim, this was really magical. We also were able to witness it fade as it continued to be out of the water Here is an odd note. The driver of the tour van was fabulous. I always like to sit up front and talk to the driver and get local Intel. He talked to me about his favorite food trucks and we had a really fun conversation about the van and driving and what happens when it gets muddy, etc. He had such a sparkly personality! The only photos I post will be ones that they sent us of the van, because this is my second bio luminescent tour, and the photos really don’t come out well! I’m also glad this was a boat tour, because on my first bio experience in Jamaica, I was stung by jellyfish. So boating will really prevent this! I wish I remembered the name of the crew, including the driver, but we had so many other tours lined up that I do not. So please give them a shout out from Lockie and Zac Hunter.

Good experience - Excellent guide. They were able to accommodate us on an earlier trip. Well guided. Pricey but not something we can do on our own. Worth the price for a good experience.

Very fun but pricey - This was a once in a lifetime experience! They communicated all instructions well beforehand through text sending pictures of the actual vehicle we were to ride to the bay in, the license plate, and the drivers name. Our driver’s name was Ian, very nice and pleasant and handled the rocky drive through the “beach forest” is what i called it… it was a very rough ride through pot holes and puddles the size of ponds…it was a very intetesting part of this experience…VERY bumpy ride and wouldnt recommend if you have back problems. Moving forward we got to the bay and the boat was approaching and we waited for the previous group to disembark. While boarding i noticed that there was a very makeshift looking ramp to get into the boat and it didnt look very safe but it wasnt that high so it wasnt that bad. Just have to be very careful. The boat captain was very nice and knowledgeable. I learned so much about the bio bay and vieques in general. This was a fun experience but was very pricey for the quality of the product that was delivered. All in all, i would recommend trying it at least once.

Horrible - No memorable experience.Just given a PVC pipe and asked us to check the water sparkling. Explains a lot about history but the boat tour is hardly nothing. After boarding the boat, it doesn’t travel anywhere but just stopped at one location and started explaining. I was expecting boat ride will take deep into waters and we can experience a lot but completely disappointed and waste of money. I would recommend going on Kayak instead of boat tour.
