Additional Information

Vieste, a village perched on the Gargano promontory, is one of Puglia’s most frequented tourist hotspots. It captivates visitors with its stunning beauty, nestled in a landscape that effortlessly transitions from towering mountains to sweeping sandy beaches and mysterious sea caves. The guided excursion starts in the quaint historic center, where enticing alleyways wind past traditional white houses, offering staggering sea vistas. It includes seeing the eleventh-century cathedral, dedicated to St. Maria Assunta, situated atop one of the village’s highest points. The tour also features the exterior view of a Swabian castle with a sea-facing triangular layout currently in use by the Italian Navy.

Close to the castle stands the sandy beach and Pizzomunno rock, a 25-meter-tall emblem of the village with an entwined tale of romance.

Great tour of a really interesting town! - Our tour guide Angela was a delight. She knew a LOT about to town and its history. I came to Vieste because it was where my grandfather was born and she even helped me ask some folks about the extended family still in the area. She provided a great tour!

Not if you need a tour in English - Angela was very nice and pleasant to spend the morning with walking around the old city. She had some interesting insights on the history of Vieste. However, her command of English was rudimentary so it was difficult to understand and communicate with her. While she is very nice, and did her best, I don’t think she should advertise giving tours in English. If I didn’t have an understanding of some very basic Italian, I wouldn’t have understood a lot of what she was trying to communicate.
