- Icelandic Mountain Guides by Icelandia - Mýrdalsjökull Base Camp - The tour begins base nearby the Mýrdalsjökull glacier in South Iceland. We start by going over the tour plan and safety instructions. From the base we cross some small rivers and head down to the black lava sands fields which derives from the dormant volcano Katla. Down by the black beach we stop and enjoy the amazing view up to the Mýrdalsjökull glacier and along the coast to the southernmost part of Iceland, the small peninsula Dyrhólaey. We then head along the coast to the famous aircraft wreck, from there we continue to the river Jökulsá and up to the foot of the mountain. Upon our return we follow the mountain back to the base.
The ATV experience itself lasts approximately 2 hours. You will ride 2 people per ATV, with one driving and one as a passenger. If you are traveling alone, or in an odd-numbered group (3, 5, 7 etc.) there is an additional charge payable locally for single riders.
The adventure will provide stunning photo opportunities in good weather, so don’t forget to bring your camera!
You will be provided with everything you need for a safe and comfortable ride. No ATV experience is required to take part and the skill level for this activity is deemed as ‘easy’.

Please be at our location 30 minutes before the start of the tour.
Our main base is Ytri-Sólheimar 1 in Mýrdalur about 25km west of Vík and about 11km east of Skógar. From Reykjavík there is about 160km and the driving time is about 2hours. From the main road is 1.2km drive by road 222 to our base.

Absolutely great experience! - One of the top highlights of our family trip to Iceland! Our group of 20 ranging from grandparents to kids (ages 80 to 16) had an absolute blast today, shout out to Anthony & Oskar for being outstanding tour leaders. We had 10 double quads, left at 10am to watch the sunrise on the beach. We were completely suited up helmets and full jumpers so it was warm despite the 11•F weather. Exhilarating for all in certain places when we went over some jumps and through the water. Stopped at an abandoned crashed plane and at the ocean. We all highly recommend!!!

Magni the magnificent :) - This is my fourth visit to Iceland and the ATV tour was my favorite activity yet. A lot of that had to do with our guide, Magni Snaevar, who is absolutely brilliant - really exceptional.
I cannot recommend this activity strongly enough!!!! 11/10

A “Pawel-ous” Tour - Very well-run tour with panoramic views of beautiful glaciers and mountains. The lava sands were futuristic with plenty of photo ops. Pawel (Pav-el) was an excellent guide and if you have a choice he’s your guy!

To do absolutely. - We went on a quad bike tour with Oskar and Gunnlaugur and it was perfect! The scenery was beautiful and the guides were great! We recommend.

September 2023: my sons with quad bikes on lava beach - Were there in September 2023. Guide was BJARKI. My sons Martijn and Erik wanted to ride a quad bike on the frozen glacier, but unfortunately that was not possible. Therefore, take the quads to the lava beaches. It was guide BJARKI and my sons. They enjoyed themselves. Afterwards, as a thank you to BJARKI, they gave 24 cans of Heineken beer for him and his colleagues. We couldn't take them to the Netherlands and our days in Iceland were so full that we went to sleep with a cup of tea every night! We awarded BJARKI and colleagues the beers!
We had indicated ourselves that we would write a review, but did not remember the name of the organization. Yesterday I talked to Erik about our wonderful Iceland experience last year and Erik remembered your name: Icelandic Mountain Guides. Hence only now this review!

Joy-filled bucketlist experience! - An exhilarating and joy-filled romp through varying terrain and scenery with an experienced, friendly guide! Our group was small with kids and adults of vastly different comfort levels on the quads. I immediately wanted to do it again! Highly recommend.

Can’t be happier riding Buggy/ATV with Pawel! - The program, equipments and vehicles are super high quality and well maintained. Pawel Ciupa was our guide. He was super knowledgeable and professional. We didn't only enjoy the breathtaking views during the tour but also know a lot about the nature and geology of Iceland, thanks to him. Nayara at the reception was also super friendly and helpful. We felt safe and were taken good care by these guys. Highly recommend!!!

Amazing ATV experience with a brilliant guide - Had the most incredible time on an ATV exploring the black beach and seeing the airplane wreck. It was exhilarating and an astonishing landscape to explore. Our guide was Pawel Ciupa and he was amazing. He gave us very clear instructions so that we felt safe on the ATV and was very knowledgable about the area.

PAWEL THE GOAT - Pawel was the goat 🐐. Greatest ATV guide ever. He even gave us suggestions afterwards for the northern lights and was very caring. Did a great job trying to accommodate the fast speeds for us young guys and still keep the other people together.
