Highlights

Tröll Expeditions Solheimajokull - The tour begins when you meet your guide in the Sólheimajökull parking lot and get all necessary equipment for the hike: crampons, ice axes, harnesses, helmets and climbing boots. Then you will hike for about 15 minutes to the ice itself to get the blood flowing and warm up for the climb.

Additional Information

Pull on your trekking shoes, because the Sólheimajökull glacier in the southern part of Iceland is waiting for you! This is a detailed glacier expedition, where you will gain knowledge about these huge natural wonders from your guide and get all the essential gear to exercise in total comfort and security. You’ll grasp the fundamental skills of ice climbing, and ascend the sheer walls of crevasses on the Sólheimajökull glacier.

To guarantee the group’s safety, each guide is assigned no more than 6 individuals.

Operates in all good weather conditions, please dress appropriately

Please arrive at our meeting point 20 minutes before the departure time stated on ticket. The meeting point is at our bus marked Tröll Expeditions in the parking lot of Sólheimajökull. You can look up “Troll Expeditions Sólheimajökull” on Google Maps to find exact location and driving directions.

Great adventure for all of us. - This was so fun. My husband was thx most skeptical and a little fearful of it but ended up being the best at it! My teenage boys (14 and 16) loved it, It was a fun and thrilling experience.

All in one your of a glacier - Great experience that is friendly for entire family. Our guide Kevin did a great job making us feel welcomed. You get all the gear and you do a hike, then some education of glacier, sip some glacier water, maybe apply a mud mask, and climb a cliff! Nice mix of a tour!

Best moment of our trip - We’ve done the climbing expedition at Sólheimajökull with Elias as a guide (best guide ever, we lived moments which will forever in our memories!). Great trip - Ondrej was an amazing guide who told us all about the glacier and was patient with us in a way to make sure that we enjoyed every moment. Hike was beautiful and ice climbing was a great time for my wife and myself. Highly recommend especially if you can get Ondrej as a guide, he made a great experience even better.

Incredible experience - Our glacier hike and ice climb was so incredible! Our guide Zuza was so informative and fun which made the experience even better! We were able to stop multiple times so we could get pictures and she was so patient and helpful when we were climbing. I would highly recommend this tour

Epic time - Very informative tour guide who paid close attention to safety and giving us the best experience possible. She said we could climb 1-3 times based on timing and each of us got to climb twice. Small group of 6 climbers. Was a really fun time to learn to ice climb and hike on the glacier and I would definitely recommend!

Great experience for first-time ice climbing! - Terrific and fun experience for first-time ice climbing. Gustavo was an excellent guide- patient, knowledgeable, funny, and made everyone feel comfortable. My group of 3 woman had a great time and would recommend this tour and Gustavo as guide.

Great experience - Great hike and clump. Guide was awesome and I’d highly recommend. Walk up to climb was lots of fun, small group with time for two climbs, first bing relatively easy with second adding some complexity. Trip was just over 4 hours from check-in to return.

Lack of communication - I’m sure the tour is great but ours was cancelled due to the weather. Totally understandable because the clouds and wind did roll in shortly after. The part I had an issue with was the lack of communication. I, along with other groups, showed up at the meeting time to find out it was cancelled earlier in the day. We didn’t get a cancellation notification until the next day- around 36 hours later. They also cancelled the tour the next day so we booked a glacier hike with another tour group.
