Unforgettable Experience - Very friendly staff at the front desk and the guide as well, she was very knowledgeable and professional. The Fado group was amazing, excellent performance. The two wines for tasting were so good, we bought a bottle of each one, prices are very affordable less than €25 each bottle and it worth it.

Unsure if we would recommend - The tour and the Fado experience performers were exceptional. Unfortunately, there were a group of females at a table next to us during the Fado experience who ignored the announcement to not use flash in their cameras. They talked loudly throughout the performance and were in their cellphones with lighted screens. They also used flash on their cameras. It was extremely disrespectful and distracting. We reported it to one of the workers during the performance and no attempt was made on behalf of management to ask them to be respectful to the performers and fellow guests. That was disappointing and unacceptable.

Wine cellar visit, tasting and fado - Very delicious port wine 🍷 and Listen to Fado with his wonderful voice. I was healed. Souvenir wine and chocolate were also very good. My daughter loved the souvenir t-shirt with the CALEM logo, and the black CALEM logo Pro was a pun on her memory 💖

Porto Cálem tour/Fado - We had a very knowledgeable guide who provided very interesting facts on the production of port wine. It was a little dark in the cellars so we were not as comfortable with the surroundings but we understand that this is normal for a cellar. The Port tasting and Fado show were wonderful. The musicians/singers gave us a truly authentic experience.

If you don’t know port wine, you’ll learn about it here - This is an informative tour, teaching about the ground, the grapes, the process, and finally the wine. I thought it was very educational, and I’ve been in a wine club many years. I think it was a little expensive, and they really don’t limit it the amount of people on a tour. There are different prices depending on how many wines you want to sample. I’d go for the cheapest because you get two as a minimum and that should be sufficient.

Not really what we expected. - The cellar tour was very rushed. No time to look around the cellar or exhibits, moving quickly to each section whilst guide just read what was shown on screen very quickly, she sounded like a horse racing commentator! Could not digest the information on the screens as they were just changed so quickly. Port tasting is just 2 glasses on the table for you to taste, no explanation what they were. Disappointed we could not tasted a range of ports. Fado show was good though quite long. More time spent learning about Port would have been better. Even at the end we were rushed out of the place as they wanted to close up.

Disappointing visit to cellars. - Visited as part of a group tour (cellars and tasting only). The guide's English was not very good and she lost most people's attention quite quickly. Only two types of port offered at the tasting. Generally a disappointing experience.

Little too touristy… - I think I should have done a little more research into the tasting. I didn’t know it was such a huge group and such a rushed tour. We couldn’t see what was going on because of all of the people and she spoke really fast. We did learn a few things, though. One of the reasons we chose the tour was the word “caves”. We thought we going to get a more in depth tour through the port barrel caves. It was beautiful but you didn’t go very far. The Fado show was great and the ports were delicious. This was my personal opinion but may be perfect for others just wanting to touch on the history of port.

Disappointment - The setting is that of a cellar, like all cellars: large, dark spaces, with barrels. But the problem is the number of tourists, at least a hundred, divided into 2 or 3 groups. The guide speaks in English (it was announced), the photos projected on the wall with comments written always in English. The herd of visitors is led by the wand, no time to look at the lobby where there are information signs. We soon find ourselves at the table as in the canteen facing 2 ports and the concert begins. Artists are good and this is the only pleasant moment. We visited houses in Cognac, where the welcome was much more attentive.
