The Anticipation Builds

As a travel writer with a penchant for adrenaline-pumping experiences, I was thrilled to hear about the opportunity to take control of a plane and soar over the breathtaking landscapes of Villacastín. My fiancée and I, both seasoned adventurers, were eager to add this unique experience to our list of heart-pounding escapades. However, as with any adventure, the weather had its own plans. Our initial flight was canceled due to unfavorable conditions, leaving us with a mix of disappointment and anticipation. But as any thrill-seeker knows, the wait often makes the experience even more exhilarating.

Two days later, just before we were set to return to Bilbao, we received the call we had been hoping for. The skies had cleared, and we were given the green light to embark on our aerial adventure. The excitement was palpable as we made our way to Eduardo Castellanos Airport, ready to embrace the skies and live the dream of being a pilot for a day.

Taking to the Skies

Upon arrival, we were greeted by our ultralight plane instructor, whose enthusiasm was infectious. After a brief theoretical session, where we learned the basic notions of flight, it was time to take to the skies. As someone who has jumped out of planes and scaled towering peaks, the idea of piloting an aircraft was a thrilling new challenge.

The moment the plane lifted off the ground, a rush of adrenaline surged through my veins. The world below transformed into a patchwork of stunning landscapes, each more breathtaking than the last. With the instructor’s guidance, I took control of the plane, feeling the power and freedom that comes with being at the helm. As we descended back to the runway, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of accomplishment and awe. The experience had been everything I had hoped for and more. Before leaving, we were presented with a video of our flight, a t-shirt, and a pilot student card as mementos of our incredible day. As we made our way back to Bilbao, I couldn’t shake the feeling of exhilaration that lingered long after the flight had ended. This was an experience I would undoubtedly repeat, and one I highly recommend to fellow thrill-seekers looking to add a unique twist to their adventures.
