Great walking tour - A very interesting tour. Lots of stops to learn and hear stories from our guide. I found this tour very enjoyable even though the history is horrific.

Really good tour of Jewish history - This walking tour of what used to be the Jewish area of Vilnius was really good. Since almost all of the area was destroyed during WWII by the Germans, without taking the tour, it would be hard to know what you are looking at. I had no idea that Vilnius was such a huge Jewish community before the war, and the extent of how many people were killed. I really appreciated all the information given by the guide during the tour.

Dissapointing - It was interesting to learn about history of Jewish people in Vilnius. Our guide, Kristina took us to various different Jewish sites which we wouldn’t have found ourselves. Yet some questions remained unanswered. One of them is about why there are only 60 stumble stones placed, while 70.000 Vilna Jews were murdered. In some European cities it is customary for such stones to be placed at every house where a Jewish person lIved that was killed during the war and didn’t come back. Also there was no answer about on what basis the choices were made for whom a stumble stone should be placed and for whom not. The guide told us a lot about the role Germans and Russians played during the wwII concerning the Jewish population in Vilnius, a little was told though about the collaboration on this matter of Lithuanian people with Germans and their taking a very active part in helping the Germans through the entire war. Though it is a painful part of history, I think it is important to talk about it, so things ll not be forgotten and lessons can be learned to secure peace and tolerance for everyone for the present and future.
