Highlights
  • Hill Of Crosses (kryziU Kalnas) - The Hill of Crosses, located sixteen kilometers from Siauliai city, is an authentic monument of history and religious folk art. This small hill with a collection of over 200 000 crosses is the best repository of Lithuanian cross making art and the representation of unshakable faith and a symbol of resistance against occupation.
  • Rundale Palace Museum (Rundales Pils) - The Rundale Palace, located just 15 kilometres from Lithuania – Latvia border, was built in the 18th century by Ernst Johann von Biron, as the summer residence of the Duke of Courland. The palace was designed by Italian architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, an author of the Winter Palace in Saint Petersburg.
In the course of time and political rush the Palace has changed many owners and purposes – it was used as a hospital, elementary school or even a grain storage facility. Nowadays, after extensive and successful renovation process, The Rundale Palace Museum and Garden attracts masses of tourists and is deservingly called a „Versailles of Latvia“.
  • Bauska Castle - The Bauska Castle sits on a scenery land between two rivers Musa and Memele in the territory of Bauska town. The Bauska Castle complex consits of two parts: the older, the Livonian Order Castle, build in the middle of the 15th century, and a newer, a residence for the Duke of Courland, constructed at the end of the 16th century. During the Great Northern War the Bauska Castle ensemble was blew up by the Russian military. Nowadays the residence of the Duke of Courland is fully restored and is home the Castle Museum, while only ruins remain from the seat of the Livonian Order.

Value for money - highly recommended - Smooth journey from Vilnius to Riga with more than sufficient time at Hill of Crosses & Rundale Palace. Last stop at Bauskas was short but it was the least interesting, so no matter.

A perfect way to travel from Lithuania to Latvia - This was a wonderful and enjoyable (and affordable) way to travel from Lithuania into Latvia. Adam was a fantastic guide, driver and spokesperson - he had many stories to tell all of us and he provided factual information about each historical site along the way. The timing at each location was great (Bauska castle was a little tight if you also wanted to climb to the top of the tower). There were also a rest stop as the journey is more than 3 hours without stopping. The van has plenty of room for luggage and 7 people. Thank you for a fantastic day's tour Adam.

Highly recommend! - I highly recommend this tour that not only takes you from Vilnius to Riga but has nice stops at the Hill of Crosses, Rundale Palace, and Bauska Castle. Rundale Palace was my favorite stop and we were fortunate to see the tulips in full bloom

Vilnius-Riga Sightseeing Tour - It was a great trip despite the constant drizzle. We made 3 stops with some explanation given by the driver/guide. We had 2 cars going instead of one bus or van which I was expecting. Drivers were pleasant and they from a local provider called Experience Lithuania. Nice folks but could have been better with better weather and one van. There were 3 stops. The Riga Traveller tour has 5 stops.

Good transfer option from Vilnius to Riga - Highly recommended to take this trip. It’s a great way to transfer from Vilnius to Riga-cheaper than flying and you get to see 3 of the main tourist sites along the way. It’s mostly just a transfer service, but the driver did give some limited comments at each location before then leaving us to explore on our own.

Exactly as expected - The experience was exactly as promised. The driver was funny and patient, and the other two travelers were cool. The tour stops were short, but the sites were great and we made it to Riga in good time.

Recommendation for those who want to visit the Hill of the Cross on a tour of the Baltic States! - You can go to the hill of the cross on your own, but I was a little worried about the waste of time on a day trip & the large luggage on the trip to Riga. Meanwhile, while traveling from Vilnius to Riga, we discovered this tour, which offers stops at three tourist attractions: Hill of the Cross, Lundare Palace and Bauska Castle. Moreover, it was about 40,000 yen at other companies, but it was about 14,000 yen! I was worried because I was traveling alone and could only speak broken English, but I applied because I thought it would be good if they could take me to Riga at worst. I was up early for breakfast at 8am on the day when I spotted an email from my driver. They're going to be two hours late for a technical issue! I didn’t have any other plans, so it wasn’t a problem, but I didn’t get enough sleep so wasting two hours getting up early was hard to hear later… We left at 10am, two hours behind schedule. I was the only customer in the six-seater van. It was a spacious seat and I slept most of the time while I was traveling. There were times when I was left in the car for about 15 minutes due to a problem I didn't understand along the way, or a little miffed because I stayed too long on the Hill of the Cross (even though I was two hours late!), so I decided to give it four stars, but I was happy because I was able to make it to three locations and get it to a hotel in Riga. Cross Hill was overwhelmed with indescribable scenery. I bought a small cross at the entrance, but I couldn't fill it with light feeling, so I couldn't quite decide where. The Lundare Palace was beautiful and the garden passed because of the time, but it was nice to go. I honestly didn't expect much from Bauska Castle, but I enjoyed many interesting exhibits. Overall it's very Recommendation. There seems to be a reverse Directions from Riga to Vilnius, so I think it's worth taking advantage of for people travelling around the Baltic states.
