Refreshingly un-touristy local experience - We booked this trip because of all these 5 star rave reviews and we have to say it didn’t disappoint! Captain George is incredibly knowledgeable about the local area and is a lovely bloke! Don’t think he drew breath the entire trip ;) his lovely wife Samantha was so warm and welcoming too - and she makes awesome crab cakes! We also spent a few hours in their de Pope bar catching up with their friends, if you’re there on a Sunday, it’s a great hang with honest and straight up folk. Thanks from Australia guys!!

Highlight of our trip - Despite the lack of gators on this tour due to it being hunting season, this was a super fun experience, mostly thanks to captain George. He’s lived on and around the bayou his whole life and he really gives you the feel for what life is like on the bayou. He showed us his giant snapping turtles and told us many entertaining stories from his life.

Bayou Tour - This was our 2nd time on this trip, we visited in 2022 and was top of our list to do again this time in 2024. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone. Captain George is an excellent Tour Guide full of information and stories, we got to visit his cabin on the Bayou which he & his father built, it is fabulous, We saw the alligators, deer and calf swimming across the Bayou, we stopped off at De Pope tavern for food, crab cakes, bodin balls, mozzarella sticks, food was excellent along with cocktails, fabulous day out. Thank you

An unforgettable experience - We booked the tour in advance and were fully satisfied. The sunset tour was unique. The skipper, who loves his homeland very much, told us a lot about the animals, shrimp fishing and the oyster industry. He "called" alligators. That was an unforgettable spectacle. We were looked after individually and afterwards ate crab in his wife's restaurant and tasted the delicious crabcake. We wish the skipper and his wife all the best and a successful crab season.

Perfect for Students! - This review is coming far too late--my apologies to Captain George! I am part of a New Orleans school trip that has participated in this tour since 2018. It is consistently among our students favorite activities. Captain George is passionate and engaging. Stories for days!

An Experience I’ll Never Forget - I cannot say enough great things about our tour. From the people treating us like family, to the non-touristy bayou tour, to the best tour guide (thank you, Captain George!), to the alligators, to the beautiful sunset, to the most delicious, authentic crab cakes and food, this was truly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. You NEED to come here and experience it all!! I highly recommend the sunset tour, followed by a delicious dinner. You will take the most amazing pictures, and have the best memories and food in the area. Thank you George and Samantha for EVERYTHING. My only regret is that I don’t live closer and can’t come back next week!!!

Sweet, cool boat ride with the family to see alligators and other wildlife! - Great tour! My family and I went on this tour of the bayou and got to see several alligator, cranes, fish, turtles, crab, and other wildlife. We also got to learn about the local history including issues with pollution, the BP oil spill, and other environmental issues and natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina. We had four adults and one child, age 4. My son loved the tour, had a life jacket available for his safety, and even got up close to some of the alligators. The boat had a cooler for drinks we bought from the adjoining restaurant and bar which was really inexpensive. We had a very nice private tour and it was very relaxing. Thank you, Captain George, for your hospitality!

A fun adventure! - We showed up and there were just the three of us for a tour. But instead of cancelling, George took us on a grand adventure full of stories, gators and beautiful scenery. It started to rain, and with the lightning George kept us safe on the porch of his camp until it let up. Nothing better than watching the world go by on the bayou! We felt very comfortable knowing that George had our safety in mind. It was still raining (but no lightning) when we headed back. He had ponchos for us all. We returned happy, sorta wet, and starving! We tried it all. Gumbo, crab cakes, and whatever else was still available. It was all delicious!! Da Pope was in the bar. He and his wife, and all the folks there were very friendly. We are from a super small town, so for us- we’d come back to this place anytime! It was comfortable and felt like home. A great experience!
