- Skadar Lake National Park - Experience the vastness of Lake Skadar as you witness Vranjina and its two peaks emerging from the largest lake in southern Europe.
- Vranjina - Your next destination is the Vranjina Monastery, situated on the southeastern side of Vranjina Island, high above the Morača delta. The only remaining church from the former monastery is dedicated to St. Nicholas. Alongside several other monasteries on the shores of Lake Skadar, Vranjina Monastery forms a collective known as Zetska Sveta Gora.
This monastery was established with the blessing of Saint Sava at the start of the 13th century on the original monastery’s foundations (from 1223). Initially comprising three churches – the Church of Saint Nicholas, Saint Sava, and the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary – only the Church of Saint Nicholas has survived and been restored multiple times.
The uphill walk to the Church of St. Nicholas offers breathtaking views of the lake and Morača River, with their banks lined by willows. After a ten-minute walk, you will arrive at the church and have the chance to explore it.
- Lake Skadar - After visiting the monastery, it’s time to return. Don’t forget to bring your swimsuit! Take the opportunity to enjoy the refreshing waters of Lake Skadar.
