- The Blue Eye - Albania’s renowned Blue Eye (Syri i kaltër) is a natural spring and phenomenon that every visitor should experience. A well-known tourist spot, the stunning light turquoise river captivates with its beauty. You’ll first be charmed by the dense forest and the beautiful light blue river flowing through this natural haven. The Blue Eye is situated beneath a small metal balcony built for a closer view. This water spring features extremely light blue water bubbling in a pool over 50 meters deep. The water is so clear that you can see straight to the bottom. Divers have tried to measure the Blue Eye’s depth, but its true depth remains a mystery. (A 30-minute walk is required to reach the destination, so bring a bottle of water.)
- Kalaja e Lëkurësit - When in Saranda, a visit to Lëkursi Castle is a must. This fortress, dating back to the 16th century, features a square layout with two round towers positioned diagonally. Its strategic location on a 300-meter-high hill offers picturesque views of Saranda, the Butrint Lagoon, and even the island of Corfu, making it a favorite among tourists. Inside the fortress, you’ll find one of Saranda’s most famous bars and restaurants, which also offers a stunning sunset view.
- Butrint National Park - Butrint is a significant UNESCO site in Albania and a popular destination. It’s one of the largest and most impressive places to visit during your holiday in Albania. If you’re staying in Saranda or even closer in Ksamil, you can’t leave without stopping here! In Butrint National Park, you’ll find well-preserved ancient structures, including the Butrint theatre, which seats over 2500 people and is still occasionally used for events. There’s also the Temple of Asclepius, an Acropolis, columns, a beautiful floor mosaic (featuring medallions of 69 churches), a 6th-century basilica, Lions Gate, and even a castle. These ruins offer incredible views of Lake Butrint, Butrint beach, and the surrounding area. As you explore Butrint National Park, you’ll notice that some buildings are still buried underground. Some locals believe Butrint might be the sunken city of Atlantis.
- Ksamil - The Ksamil Islands are considered the jewels of the Albanian Riviera. These four small islands off the coast of Saranda, Albania, are pristine, with crystal-clear waters and beautiful sandy beaches. The vibrant waters are surrounded by lush greenery, creating a tranquil and visually soothing atmosphere. Accessible by boat, the islands are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and more, making them a must-visit for a relaxing getaway.
