• Vung Tau Beach - Vung Tau boasts four renowned beaches: Front Beach, Back Beach, Pineapple Beach, and Paradise Beach. Front Beach (Bãi Trước) is the most frequented, which might deter some due to its popularity. Besides the crowds, the water is somewhat polluted and not ideal for a beach day. For a superior beach experience, consider visiting one of the other three. Back Beach (Bãi Sau) is cleaner and excellent for surfing. With its favorable wind swells, kitesurfing shops have emerged over the years, offering rentals and lessons for all skill levels.
• Christ The King Statue - The Statue of Christ the King is a must-see on Vung Tau day tours. This iconic symbol of Vung Tau is visible from all over the city. However, the best view is from the top of Little Mountain, where you can admire the statue up close. Climb the observatory within the statue to enjoy a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding sea. Constructed in the early 1970s, the statue’s arms span 18 meters, and it stands 32 meters tall, two meters taller than the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro.
• White Palace - Bach Dinh, or the White Palace of Vung Tau City, is situated at 4 Tran Phu Street, on the slope of Big Mountain. Standing 50 meters above sea level, the White Palace, known in French as La Villa Blanche, dates back to 1898. It was initially a summer retreat for French Governor General Paul Doumer. The palace was named after his beloved daughter. Unfortunately, Doumer returned to France and later became the President of France before the structure was completed. It wasn’t until 1916 that it was officially used as a holiday residence for some Indochina-French Governors.
• Thich Ca Phat Dai - Thich Ca Phat Dai (Platform of Shakyamuni Buddha) is a prominent Theravada Buddhist temple in Vung Tau, southern Vietnam. Located northwest of Lớn Mountain, it was constructed between 1961 and 1963. The temple spans approximately five hectares, with a Zen Buddhist monastery at the base and the Thích Ca Phật Đài at the summit. The Zen monastery, a small brick temple, was built by a Vung Tau government official in 1957. In 1961, the Buddhist association renovated the monastery and decided to construct the Thich Ca Phat Dai further up the mountain. Additional accommodations were built to welcome Buddhist pilgrims visiting the site.
• The Whale Temple - Situated to the right of Thang Tam’s Holy Temple, the Whale Tomb was constructed alongside the Temple of the Five Elements at the end of the 19th century. The tomb currently houses a massive whale skeleton collected by local fishermen over a century ago. According to legend, in the mid-19th century, a large whale head washed ashore at Tam Duong Beach. The head was so enormous that villagers had to enclose it with bamboo sticks and wait several days for the flesh to decompose, leaving only the bones. They then transported the bones to the temple, where they have been venerated ever since. In recent years, more whale bones have been gathered and preserved at the temple.
