There are several beavers living upriver, so the possibility of seeing one of these is high. The beaver is incredibly wary of sound. It sees poorly, but hears well. A little splash with the oar, and we scare the beaver away. When we are on a paddling trip to see beavers, it is therefore extra important to have silence and calmness in the paddling group. We paddle in small groups of a maximum of 4 SUP boards. The best time to see beavers is in the afternoon/evening. The paddling trips therefore usually start at 5-6pm, summer time, depending on when it gets dark. In winter/early spring, the trip can start at 3 pm. We look at the time and turn in time according to beaver experiences and the sunlight.
The river is relatively shallow. Except at the start, where the water is murky and dark, you will easily be able to observe all the details below the surface of the water. After heavy rainfall there can be some current, but it is otherwise very calm and nice to paddle up. You will enjoy the calmness of the nature and the birds singing.

Witnessing a beaver in its natural habitat is an extraordinary experience. The surrounding environment is fascinating and the river where we’ll be is rather shallow. The very act of navigating on stand up paddle boards offers an adventure of its own. There isn’t always a need for a specific goal, as the journey itself provides ample experiences. As we paddle upstream, we may encounter other wildlife including goats, ducks, foxes, birds, and highland cattle. Our adventures are undertaken in small groups, limited to a maximum of 4 paddle boards. While two people can share a board, it’s advisable for each adult to have a personal board. Children can comfortably join their parents on their board.
Due to their poor eyesight, beavers rely heavily on their strong sense of hearing. Hence, on this trip, maintaining quiet and embracing the serene atmosphere of the forest is crucial.
Those new to stand up paddleboarding, don’t worry! Instructions will be provided at the start of the trip.
