- Petra - Commence with a pickup from the Cruise or Hotel (including meet and assistance), followed by a journey in a modern, air-conditioned coach via the Desert Highway straight to Petra, incorporating a brief halt en route. Petra is situated approximately 135 Km from the border crossing, necessitating a 2-hour drive to reach the destination. Upon arrival at Petra (expected around 10:30 AM), guests have the opportunity to utilize the restrooms before the tour starts, while the Guide takes care of Ticket arrangements and a brief horseback ride. The exploration begins with a short walk to Petra’s sole entrance, followed by a regrouping next to the (SIQ), a lengthy, narrow corridor flanked by towering rock mountains stretching about 1.2 Km. The guide will accompany the group throughout this passage. The first awe-inspiring landmark encountered is Al-Khazneh (Treasury), a magnificent relic from ancient times, hewn directly from the mountain’s rock face, standing nearly 140 feet tall and 90 feet wide. The tour proceeds to view numerous other carved edifices, including the Roman Theater with a seating capacity of 7,000, built by the Nabateans, as well as the Royal Tombs, Court, Cardo Street, and Qasr Al-Bint (The Castle of the Pharaoh’s daughter). Following lunch within Petra and a period of relaxation, the return trek outside of Petra commences around 15:00 PM, with a 2-hour drive back to Aqaba. Time permitting, a brief exploration and stop in the city of Aqaba will occur, with an anticipated return to the Cruise or Hotel around 17:00.

Beautiful Petra - We had a very good time. Our group was of four people - me, my mother and one couple. Our driver was friendly and experienced. He made an extra stop on the road so we can enjoy the view and take pictures. The vehicle was clean and comfortable. When we arrived in Petra the driver bought us entry tickets, we didn’t have a tour guide inside Petra. It wasn’t made clear that we’re entitled to a free of charge guide, we thought we have to pay extra, but we were okay without a guide. We had 3 hours to see Petra which is not enough time if you want to take pictures, or ride a camel in example, but we were hungry anyway. After that the driver was waiting for us and brought us to the reastaurant where we had lunch - a really nice place with tasty local food. After our lunch he drove us back to Aqaba. We had an awkward situation with the tip for the driver as we were following the instructions given by our agency in Bulgaria - to give 2 USD to our driver and 4 USD to our guide daily. So after he left us at the hotel we gave him 8 USD tip from everyone from the group and he was unhappy with that, said that it’s a very small tip for a whole day and that the normal tip for a whole day should be at least 20JD which was fine and he deserved it, but it‘s good to know.

The best Petra experience someone can have - This tour is a 10/10. The driver Mashhour was on time with a clear sign waiting for my group, the van was comfortable and had WIFI all the time. Then, Mohamed the guide had an exellent attitude and perfect english and knowledge. He was patient with us while we took pictures and gave the whole tour with clear explanations. The food where we had lunch was the best arab food I’ve ever tried and the place was so nice, clean and Typical.

A great day to Petra - thank you Bridge Travel - Our group of six felt the cruise ship's excursion to Petra from Aqaba was over priced, so I researched a number of options and chose Bridge Travel. It was a perfect day. We had a knowledgeable guide, a comfortable modern van, and lots of time to see this amazing site. The USD175 fee included the entrance fee to Petra, a very good Jordanian lunch, and enough time for a quick drive through downtown Aqaba on our return to the cruise ship. Pick up and drop off went perfectly. It's a 2.5 hour drive to Petra from Aqaba.Thank you to our guide Achmed, our driver, and Mr Marei from Bridge Travel for organizing this visit. And all the best to Jordan, a country that I would love to visit again.

A very nice day visiting Petra . - Jaafar met us precisely at 6:30 AM close to our gangway! Jaafar proved to be an excellent driver and looked after all our needs! He arranged for our local guide at Petra and then met us after we finished our visit!
We were given a cell phone so that after we came back to the entrance, we phoned Jaafar and he promptly picked us up! His car was very comfortable to travel in! He arranged lunch for us at a local barbecue restaurant! Our private transport allowed us to get to the site well before bus loads of people arrived which allowed us to enter Petra gates without waiting in a line up! We walked with our guide at a very slow pace taking lots of pictures and he stopped to give us the history of each particular area. His English was excellent, and he had actually visited our home city , Vancouver, back in the nineties.
Thank you Viator for another great visit to Jordan. We have used Viator in different parts of the world and have found the tours excellent , so thank you Viator and Jaafar in Aqaba!

A good day out with a friendly driver but a cold reception at lunchtime - We had a good day trip to Petra with a friendly driver who allowed us to take as long as we wanted walking around the large site. December was ideal for a visit as it wasn't too crowded or hot.
All the arrangements went smoothly except that the Basin restaurant, where we had been told to go for lunch, had no reservation for us and then, when we had sorted that out, they said we could eat there but would have to pay for the meal in cash. As we had paid for everything in advance we were not pleased about having to sort that out as well. The cold indifference that we met at the restaurant was not what we expected.

Private tour from Port in Aqaba For Four - Our tour was booked online through TripAdvisor and everything went very smoothly at the Cruise Port in Aqaba Jordan. The driver picked up four adults next to the ship as soon as we were cleared to disembark. Thanks to excellent planning we had scarves and some jackets since it was cold and dusty. Good hiking shoes or closed toed shoes are a must. We had a two hour drive and stopped on the way for a break. It’s an experience since the drivers stop for coffee and tea and invite you to join them. The views of the landscape are vast and almost eerie. If you have to be back on the ship by 3-4pm I recommend taking a carriage one way to the Treasury at Petra. Also, ask when you book if you can have a guide longer than the Treasury. Petra has many areas to explore and whatever your cruise offers is worth the money. We had extra time, but 3 older adults were tired and couldn’t walk more. The $40USD carriage ride is worth every penny. Lunch was very good too at a local restaurant. Make sure to use the restroom at Petra since the restaurant was crowded with a tour bus. Overall Petra is amazing and one of the most exhilarating places to visit in the world. Bring a camera or two with extra batteries. We could have visited Wadi Rum as well, but were exhausted from the walking and lunch.

One of the wonders of the world - Our main reason for visiting Jordan was to see Petra and it was well worth the visit. Quite apart from the Treasury the rock formations alone are worth seeing, a whole city built into rock. Our trip by car took two and a half hours with one comfort stop and was included in our holiday along with the entrance to the site which is normally 50 dinar. We arranged for the driver to wait 3 hours but wish we had stayed longer as we didnt have time to visit the museum. It takes much longer to walk down as your are stopping all the time to take photos. We thought about taking the pony and cart ride back up the hill but not at 45 dinars!!! Wear comfortable shoes that dont let the stones and sand in. Be sure to have water

Flexible Schedule? Fair Guide - Our tour began at 8 a.m. at the pier where our cruise ship docked and the tour guide and driver were there waiting with a sign. Once aboard the van, we were told that it would take about 2 hours drive to get to the entrance of Petra and that the tour will go at the pace we prefer which would dictate on how much of Petra we would cover and that lunch would take place after our visit to Petra (around 3 p.m.) We expressed that we would like to visit the Monastery and was promptly told that our schedule would probably not allow for this hike as it would require too much time round trip to get there and back. This was disappointing news as we were looking forward to seeing this site. On our drive to Petra, we stopped at a souvenir shop and stayed for half an hour. After arriving in Petra, we had to wait for another 20 minutes for the guide to buy the tickets. The trek into the Siq took a while primarily due to our group taking photos. It took over an hour to get through the Siq to finally arrive at the Treasury. We were given half an hour to roam this area to take photos as there were a lot of visitors at this site. The tour guide met us at about 12 noon and told us that the next main site would be the Theater which is about half a mile away and that he will meet us back at the entrance to the Siq at 2:30 where we will exit Petra and go to lunch. With that message, the guide walked back the Siq to the entrance. After exploring the nearby area of the Treasury, we all made it back to the entrance at the agreed time and went to a restaurant about 10 minutes outside of the entrance to Petra. After lunch at around 3:30, we headed back to Aqaba port and again stopped at a different souvenir shop for a half an hour, finally arriving at the pier around 5:30 p.m. On this tour, we were able to take a lot of nice photos and enjoyed the limited sights. However, we feel that the time could've been handled better hence allowing us to see more. For instance, we should've been offered the choice of stopping at the souvenir rest stop to and from the pier as we wasted an hour there, time that we could've used in Petra since a rest stop is really not needed on a 1-1/2 hour drive. Additionally, the company should offer the option to eat lunch at the restaurant or provide a box lunch, as eating lunch at the restaurant really did not work well into the schedule since we must exit Petra in order to eat at the restaurant outside. Lastly, our guide was really not as attentive as could be by not explaining things clearly regarding options. He spoke fast with a heavy accent which made him somewhat difficult to understand and I had to advise him to slow down his talk. At the restaurant, he did not even explain what the meal included and whether we wanted to order drinks. He did not even take head counts on the van and just asked if everyone was on. Although we had a decent time visiting Petra, I feel that it could've and should've been even better if the tour was handled properly...
