Highlights
  • Little Petra - We will take the traveler into a tour inside the Little Petra, also known as Siq al-Barid,which literally means a cold canyon. this place has wonderful mountainous landscape. We arrived at Little Petra Siq after traveling a well-traveled path. This Siq is far shorter than the one in Petra that goes to the Treasury, but we anticipated that. The Siq is quite small but occasionally widens into locations that typically include temples cut into the rock. the traveler can see an old temples, the painted houses. Our tours continue to The Neolithic Village of Beidha. the site which holds one of the oldest settlements in Jordan. During the Neolithic period, hunters and gatherers lived seasonally in this fertile and sheltered area. Our travelers will reach the most stunning Wadi Araba’s viewpoint and can stop here for a while to take in the calm atmosphere. - Monastery (Al Dayr) - Our tour guides will move on with the travelers until reach The Monastery, is one of the fabled Petra monuments, buried in the hills. It was constructed as a Nabataean tomb in the third century BCE and has a similar design to the Treasury but is much larger (50m wide and 45m high). The crosses carved into the inside walls, which imply that it was once a church used by the Byzantines, are where it gets its name. Starting at the Basin Restaurant, an ancient rock-cut path with more than 800 steps follows the previous procession route. Our travelers will enjoy at this place because they will have a unique experience to discover the huge building of ALDER. - The Colonnaded Street - In the way back to the main old city of petra, we and our travelers will go through The colonnaded street, its an old Nabataean construction that was later renovated during the Roman era. In 106 BC, the street was restored with a 6 meter width. According to the excavation fossil, there once was a road with a 1-2 story structure lying on its side. The triple gate, which opens to the Qasr Al-Bint shrine, is located at the end of the road. - Street of Facades - the travelers can see Here few tombs that are worth examining. The first tomb (tomb number 67) is noteworthy since the upper story has a funeral chamber. unlike many Petra tombs, the Street of Facades are easily accessible. The traveler can examine the tombs and chambers located on the sides of the facade street. - The Royal Tombs - The so-called “Royal Tombs,” a collection of sizable mausoleums with stunning facades cut from the western slope of the Jabal al-Khubtha rock massif, rise majestically above the center of Petra. our travelers must ascend a staircase that leads to the well-known Urn Tomb, which served as a site of devotion during the Byzantine Empire, in order to get to them. We continue to The Silk Tomb, a tiny tomb, is located next to the Urn Tomb. The deep shade of the sandstone is where its term originates. The Palace Tomb, the Corinthian Tomb, and the Tomb of Sesto Fiorentino are the following tombs. - The Treasury - Al Khazna, or the Treasury. Its exquisite decoration includes Corinthian capitals, friezes, figures, and more. It is about 40 meters high. A funeral urn that sits atop the Treasury is believed by local folklore to contain a pharaoh’s treasure. The Treasury was presumably built in the first century BC, though its original use is still unknown. In actuality, the urn served as a memorial for royalty. The Treasury is made up of two stories, each measuring 25.30 meters in width and 39.1 meters in height. The intricately carved exterior of the Treasury’s three chambers—one in the middle and two on either side—represents the engineering brilliance of the Nabataeans. - Nymphaeum - the traveler can investigate the The Nymphaeum, which a grand public fountain along Petra’s Colonnaded Street. on the Nymphaeum, Only the foundations remain today, standing in the shade of a tree. - Byzantine Church - Petra - The ruins of this 6th or 8th century church were not discovered until the 1990s. The Byzantine Church, also known as the Church of Petra, is a superb illustration of Byzantine-era Petra architecture. Western, and the windows, doors, and reliefs used to construct the church were made of materials that were used during the Nabatean and Roman eras.

Fantastic - We visited Petra yesterday by the back road. We were so fortunate to contact Ahmed Hero (+962777570043; it’s a WhatsApp number too). Ahmed is a magnificent guide and person, very well knowledgeable and attentive. He waited for us (we had a delay arriving to Petra as we got lost driving) at the Visitor center and in a sec, took us the way back in a 4 wheel drive. That way we only had to walk almost an hour and learn a lot about Petra. He show us a magnificent area to spot the Monastery. He even is a great photographer (took many pictures of us). He speaks very well English (my wife language), Spanish (my language), Italian (group of tourist on the road) and I did not ask what else (my bad). He also recommend us a bakery that is to loose your mind (Sanibel) and a 5 star restaurant in Petra (Sajiat Al janoob). Ahmed my brother, thanks again for taking care of us and I hope we will see you soon

Don't waste your time and money - Really, don't do it. We hired an 8 hour tour with a guide (intemediated by Samaha Tours) given that we were loking forwards to discover Petra with a professional with whom learning all of the historical context surrouding this wonderfull place. The guide WASN'T UTHORIZED, Petra guides have a certified batch and he didn't apparently there are lots of unothorized guides in Petra, well this was one of those. To make long story short; .- The guide was not authorized, and what its worse, he couldnt even explain any historical context or facts literally saying "this is very old". Totally unacceptable. .-We hired the english tour and the guide wasn't fluent, it was very hard to undertand him. .-We hired the 8 hour tour and the guide tried to offer us 3 hours "guided" and 5 hours free. It seems a joke when you have payed for an 8 hour tour. -. The guide picked us up at the hotel (with a colleague that was driving) and drove us to the Monastery making us squash 4 people on the back side of the car with 3 places only. Very unsafe. .-Last but not least the guide talked to 1 of us only and was invading the personal space, speaking way to close to us which make us feel very unconfortable. As a conclusion, the guide ruined us the experience in Petra. It is a better option to hire the tours in Petra Visitor Center and ensure the guide is qualified and authorized given that Viator's local operator don't.
