Highlights
  • Lawrence’s Spring - The spring is at the top of a short scramble – head for the fig tree, located just 2km (1.2 miles) south-west of the village of Rum. The spring was named in honour of Lawrence’s evocative description in the Seven Pillars of Wisdom: ‘’In front of us a path, pale with use, zigzagged up the cliff-plinth…From between [the] trees, in hidden crannies of the rock, issued strange cries; the echoes, turned into music, of the voices of the Arabs watering camels at the springs which flowed out three hundred feet above ground’’. Although the pool itself is largely unprepossessing, being a stagnant puddle, the views across the desert are truly spectacular
  • Al Ramal Red Sand Dune - Among the vast expanses of rust-coloured sand in the Wadi Rum desert, the Red Sand Dune, or ‘Al Hasany’ in Arabic, is one of the most famous ones. Officially named Al Ramal it has become better known by its descriptive name. It stands out against a cliff side like it is part of the mountain. Coloured red by the presence of iron oxide, this dune is fine and soft underfoot making it perfect to walk up barefoot
  • Jebel Khazali - Khazali Canyon in Wadi Rum is the site of petroglyphs etched into the cave walls depicting humans and antelopes dating back to the Thamudic times. This narrow canyon contains numerous Nabataean rock carvings of people and animals.
Jebel Khazali, a peak situated in the center of Wadi Rum Protected Area opens up in a narrow fissure of about 100 m length. Its inner walls are covered with Thamudic, Nabatean, and Islamic inscriptions, as well petroglyphs depicting humans and animals. Remarkable are the soles of feet petroglyphs, which probably had religious significance. In 1932 the French epigraphist Savignac noted the engravings in the cleft and published some of them in 1934.
The petroglyphs and inscriptions of Khazali Siq form an impressive collection being one of the major tourist attractions in Wadi Rum. At the end of the canyon, there are several man-made rock-cut basins for water collection
  • Wadi Rum Protected Area - Little Rock Bridge:
Easy to climb, this bridge offers great views across a broad expanse of desert. It is easily accessible and not dangerous, it is perfect for families with children and people who feel less comfortable with heights under their feet
  • Lawrence’s House - Nobody is certain that this was Lawrence’s house, although there are stories that he both stayed and/or stored weapons here. The current structure is built upon the remains of a Nabataean building, however, and it’s another beautiful spot in the desert. There is little left of this building, erected on the Nabataean ruins of a water cistern. Nonetheless, legend has it that Lawrence stayed here during the Arab Revolt and that makes it a must on the regular 4WD circuits of the area. Near the building is a Nabataean inscription that mentions the area’s ancient name of Iram. The remote location and uninterrupted view of the red sand dunes are the main attractions
  • Wadi Rum Village - Stop for lunch (Gallaya, Hummus, Tuna, Salad, Jordanian bread, Juice)
  • Mushroom Rock - Sometimes nature performs small miracles. One of them is the Mushroom Rock. Over the centuries, rain and winds have carved this sandstone and gave it the shape of mushroom
  • Burdah Rock Bridge - The largest of Rum’s three arches is the Burdah Rock Bridge, precariously perched about 80m above the surrounding rock. There’s a precipitous hike to the summit. It’s height and location offers one of the most terrific sunsets you will ever experienc
  • Wadi Rum Village - The White Desert is located near the Saudi border, 40 km south of Wadi Rum village. The landscape is similar to the Wadi Rum desert, but the sand is white. It is also an amazing place to see the sunset from.
  • Abu Khashaba Canyon - Wild fig trees and desert bushes among huge rocks and red and yellow sand make this canyon unique. Abu Khashaba Canyon is one of the canyons that are worth to visit and you will need about an hour to walk through.
  • Um Frouth Rock Arch - A lower rock bridge which is featured on many tours and can be easily scrambled onto. The climbing takes 5-15 minutes (depending on your experience) and the view that it offers to the surrounding area is amazing

Best Guide in Wadi Rum - We booked the 5 hour sunset trip with Muhammad as our guide. We were able to see all the best spots and had great information told by Muhammad during every stop! By far the best experience we had in all of Jordan! We didn't stay over night but definitely would have, had we known the guide was going to be so good.

The most incredible experience, and could not have asked for a better guide! - We could not have asked for a better guide than Mohammad, and we had the most incredible experience with Wadi Rum Day Tours. Wadi Rum had been on my bucketlist for a long time, and it did not disappoint! Mohammad arranged a one hour camel trek into the desert for my friend and I upon arrival, which was beyond magical. Throughout the day we were driven in the back of his truck to many beautiful places in Wadi Rum, stopping for tea regularly, and Mohammad also cooked lunch for us in the desert, which was absolutely delicious! Watching the sunset was also a highlight, and we thoroughly enjoyed staying at the camp overnight, which was very welcoming with some of the best food I've ever eaten. The scenery in Wadi Rum is absolutely spectacular, but what really made it so special was Mohammad and the Bedouin community. Without a doubt my favourite place I've ever been to. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Unique desert experience with camel ride, jeep ride, camp for the night and meals - My wife and I highly recommend this unique Bedouin tour with Mohammad. He organized a wonderful camel ride through the desert to a spring. He was very informative, describing the Bedouin way of life. He took us to a slot canyon and described the large variety of petroglyphs there, explaining their history. He treated us to a drive to two different natural arches and then a sunset. We were at a nice camp for the night situated in between hills which we also recommend due to the nature in the area. The camp was simple but it gave us a good understanding of the culture and had a shared bathroom and shower in good condition. A chef made us dinner and breakfast the next morning. Overall, it was a great experience and Jordan is a very safe place to visit, with Wadi Rum being a must for any Jordan adventurer.

Dream day in the Wadi desert - Thanks for the brilliant time. It was a dream. You have to have done it. Once in a lifetime. Mohammad and his team were easy to reach via WhatsApp. Plus, everything was brilliantly planned.

The beauty of the Bedouin Desert - What an experience! The desert, the hikes and the sleeping under the stars were all amazing! However, the best part of the experience was getting to talk with and interact with our guide (and company owner I believe), Mohammad. His love and passion for the Bedouin people, and his personal stories really put the trip on another level! For anyone that truly wants to experience a little bit of the Bedouin life and culture, this is the trip for them!

Among Koreans, ‘Nomad Tours’ or ‘Bedouin Lifestyle Tours’ are well known as tour companies that conduct Wadi Rum tours. I compared the programs of a total of 15 tour companies and contacted them directly. ‘Day Tours’ explanations were the kindest and most accurate, and we were able to conduct a one-day tour at the most reasonable price. We took a one-day tour, but unless you want to see the stars in the desert, I think a 4-hour tour would be enough! You can truly enjoy Wadi Rum. In particular, I think I was able to enjoy the trip more because the guide, Mr. Mohammed, was kind and gave interesting explanations. I have traveled to over 40 countries and experienced many tour companies' programs, but among them, this tour company was one of the top five. I don't know if I will come back to Jordan, but if I do, I will definitely come back! thank you:)

Best experience ever - We had one of the best trips ever in Wadi Rum. Mohammed and his family are incredible people, always offering tea and kind words to share. We spent 3 nights there. The tours we did were fantastic. Sleeping under the stars, climbing with his father, and sandboarding with his brother were my favorites. The food was spectacular, from breakfast to dinner. By the way, I miss the galayet dish. This trip was the perfect combination of exercise (hiking and climbing), sightseeing, cultural experiences, and culinary delights. It's a very safe place surrounded by warm-hearted people. Thank you Mohammed & family for such incredible time. Best wishes Camila & Lenny

Amazing tour! - We did the half day tour which started at 2PM until sunset. We had an amazing time and really enjoyed Wadi Rum. I reached out to Mohammad to book this tour from the reviews I saw on TripAdvisor. He is super responsive and a great communicator, and we also ended up booking a bunch of other taxi/car rides that we needed through him. All the drivers that showed up to pick us up (coordinated by Mohammad) was on time and friendly. The cost of the taxi/car rides were all in accordance with what I saw online, so the prices were all fair. Highly recommend this tour company! Again, thank you Mohammad for coordinating everything for us!
