- Waitomo Glowworm Caves - The glowworm, known as Arachnocampa Luminosa, is native to New Zealand. Thousands of these tiny creatures emit their distinctive luminescent glow while an expert guide shares insights into the cave’s historical and geological importance. The caves, formed over 30 million years ago, consist of two levels. The upper level is dry and includes the entrance and formations known as the Catacombs. The lower level features stream passages and the Cathedral. Visitors can walk from the upper level to enjoy a 45-minute boat journey through the starry wonderland of the Glowworm Grotto. Experience the majestic Cathedral Cove, renowned for its acoustics.
The return journey passes through the Waikato farming region, offering views of various animals along the way, and partly follows New Zealand’s longest river. An additional attraction may be included if time permits.

Once in a lifetime experience - Our tour guide was “Cup of T” and he was so entertaining but knowledgeable! The caves are stunning…it’s truly a once in a lifetime experience to see the glowworms.

Wonderful day with Kris - Kris was a wonderful guide. He picked us up from airport, took us to highlights of Auckland, then drove us to the glow worm caves. The ability to customize our day was great! He was very professional, but personal. The car was beautiful and stocked with water and snacks! I would highly recommend Kris for your guide!

Definitely Recommend! - Waitomo Glowworm tours was high on our bucket list during our visit to New Zealand. Kris, from Black Car Transfers and Tours, made the visit extra special. Due to a work conflict, my husband and I had to back out last minute but sent our two teenage sons on the tour without us. Kris made sure to communicate with us throughout the day. The highlight was hearing the excitement from the boys upon their return. Kris was very knowledgeable and provided them with New Zealand history and facts, answered all of their questions, and was an overall amazing tour guide. We would recommend this tour to anyone in town!

Wonderful day - Our guide, Kruse, was fabulous. Completely tailored everything to us and made our day quite enjoyable. The stop at Hamilton Gardens on the return was wonderful and a great compliment to the caves.

Great driving experience - Kris was a wonderful driver: resourceful, friendly, and quite knowledgeable. He went the extra mile in every respect. On the way back he took us to Hamilton Garden. His comments on the history of New Zealand were most informative. I recommend him most highly.

Best experience! Highly recommend Black Car Transfers and Tours. - Highly recommend using Kris for a private tour when visiting Auckland! My husband and I booked a tour to the glowworm caves and Rotorua and Kris provided an amazing experience. The drive to each is a couple hours, but it’s a pretty scenery and Kris was great to talk to! Pick up and drop off were super easy and he even provided snacks and water throughout the trip.

Great Private Tour - Great private tour with black car rentals. Kris flexed the schedule based on our needs which let us recover from jet lag before heading out for the day. Waitomo was incredible and our stop by Hamilton gardens was excellent.

All around great tour and a great day - A private tour with Kris is the way to go! Knowledgeable of the area, friendly, and will work with you to establish the best plans for the day. Worked with us on short notice when other plans fell through. Loved Hamilton Gardens and Waitomo Caves were amazing.
