It was a great experience. - Getting off the cruise ship (1500 immigration) took a long time and kept the driver waiting. And yet he greeted me with a placard with his name on it, without looking nasty. Pink pelicans and four-wheel drive desert tours were also very popular. At Sandwich Harbor, it was like riding a roller coaster, running up and down steep slopes. He was a good driver and no one was drunk. And surprisingly, lunch in the desert was very fashionable, with tablecloths and even flowers, glass of sparkling wine, beer, cola, juice and water, and it was great. I was impressed because I had no idea I could drink beer in the desert. I was able to take a lot of photos and walk barefoot on the sand, which was a great experience. Thank you.

Great tour experience - The tour company was very flexible by going out of the way to accommodate me as a solo traveller with another person to make up a pair of customers on the only day I was in Walvis Bay for the tour. CJ who was our driver cum guide was also informative and excellent, taking us to many interesting spots while giving us a commentary spiced with occasional humour. The highlight was driving through the dunes with CJ giving us a demonstration of his skills and adeptness at handling the often steep and forbidding slopes. The whole experience was capped off with a buffet lunch on a scenic dune top.

Fantastic! - A fantastic day! We went with CJ, can really recommend him, lung, knowledgeable, professional, everything you could want from a guide. Simple but oh so good lunch and drinks were included in the price. Lunch is enjoyed in the middle of the desert!

Great tour and guide to Sandwich Harbour from Swakopmund - Great tour with our excellent guide CJ. Were picked up in Swakopmund, which is an included special service not many operators provide! Had a lovely drive to Sandwich Harbour where CJ made several stops on the way to show sights, wildlife and even some interesting details about the red iron oxide sand. Had an exciting drive over the steep dunes going up and down like a rollercoaster, while feeling completely safe with CJ's driving skills.

HIghly recommended - Wonderful tour. Saw both greater & lesser flamingos - a lot of them, all paler in color than the ones in Florida. Even better to see were the cormorants. Thousands and thousands of them, maybe 50,000 total, in several groups/colonies, packed together on shore along the edge of the Atlantic. Quite a sight to see, whether they were standing on the beach, swimming in the ocean, or flying above the water, they were always with a group. Much of the drive was on sand, usually following the tracks of previous drivers. While the early and ending parts of the drive were along the flat beach, once we entered the dunes, everything was up and down hills. Some parts were quite hair-raising, but fun, and our driver, Lance, was a great driver and clearly knew what he was doing. We made several stops to see the beautiful sand dunes. Had a wonderful lunch atop one called 360 Degrees because there was a 360 degree view from there. Took a lot of pictures along the way. After all of that, we topped it off with some sandboarding. The company supplied the boards, and we added the fun. It’s easy and not at all dangerous. All you have to do is lie or sit on the board and let gravity do the rest. Much easier than skiing, waterskiing, snowboarding, and all of those things that require balance and steering. Some of us wanted to do it a second time, and they provided that. Lance was not only our driver, but served as a very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly guide. One caveat, especially for women: There are neither rest rooms nor trees on this tour. Walvis Bay was the 2nd to last stop on an Oceania cruise from Barcelona to Cape Town. We took excursions from Oceania at most of the stops on the way, but we booked this tour independently. It can be booked through a number of sources including Tripadvisor, Viator, and the operator MGN Tours in Walvis Bay. It was by far better than any of the Oceania offerings that we took. It wildly exceeded our expectations. I’m serious: Don’t miss this one!

Dune exploring - CJ was the best! Make sure you are in his car. Great fun in the dunes and he added in extra stops to add to the experience. If you are in Walvis Bay, I would recommend for a morning or afternoon activity.
