Highlights
  • YehLiu Geopark - Take a 30-min ride from the port. Yehliu Geopark, located in Wanli District, New Taipei City, is one of the top attractions on Taiwan’s northern coast. It features a variety of unique rock formations shaped by wind and sea, such as mushroom rocks, chessboard rock, and trace fossils.

The most renowned rock formation is the iconic “Queen’s Head,” a mushroom rock that resembles the profile of England’s Queen Elizabeth. Each year, the “Yehliu Night Tour” showcases light shows and water projections, drawing tens of thousands of visitors to see the Queen’s Head illuminated at night.

In addition to the Queen’s Head, other notable formations include the Sea Candles, the Fairy Shoe, the Ginger Rocks, the Elephant Rock, the Ice Cream Rock, the Kissing Rock, and the Princess’ Head.

  • Northeast Coast National Scenic Area (Waiao) - Located in the northeast corner of Taiwan, the Northeast Coast National Scenic Area is known for its numerous capes and bays framed by green mountains. Attractions include stunning rock formations, unique sea-eroded landforms, fine golden sand beaches, diverse marine life, and a rich cultural heritage. It serves as both a captivating natural classroom and an enchanting coastal playground.
  • Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street) - The next stop on your day tour is Jiufen, a hillside village in Ruifang District, New Taipei City. The village thrived in the 1940s due to the gold mining industry but later fell into decline. Despite its past, this small village still has many stories to tell.

The award-winning movie “A City of Sadness,” directed by renowned filmmaker Hou Hsiao-hsien, was filmed here. Its unique historical background and melancholic atmosphere attracted global attention. The film’s success revitalized Jiufen’s tourism, making it the most popular destination in northeastern Taiwan.

While in Jiufen, it’s recommended to visit a teahouse to enjoy the picturesque scenery and freshly brewed tea.

Afterward, take a one-hour drive back to Taoyuan International Airport.
