Fun snorkel experience at GOAT Island Dive and Snorkel. - GOAT island dive and snorkel did a great job explaining things and safety issues. Our equipment fit well and our guide Conner showed us the dish we might in our preparation. In the water it was very nice with Conner showing the fish and filming the event. We would do it again even though the sea was too rough and we had to go to Matheson Bay.

My first time snorkeling and I had a great time! - This was my first time snorkeling, but my boyfriend has done it before so I signed us up for the Advanced Guided Snorkel Experience. I was a little nervous as I'd never worn a wet suit and barely had swam in the ocean, but the experience was outstanding! We wet out to Goat Island despite some swell and murky water and it was a great time. I saw tons of red snapper, an eagle ray, and a few other kinds of fish that I forget the name of. I was also very impressed because when I was trying to book reservations ahead of time, they didn't have anything posted for the day I wanted to go. I emailed them and they actually made slots available for that day! Would highly recommend!

Beginner guided snorkeling - We had an amazing time out in the waters of goat island. First time snorkelling with mum, and we plan on bringing other friends and families to have a go.

Great team, equipment and overall experience - Friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable team that clearly love sharing the NZ ocean life with visitors. Provided with heaps (but not too much) info - to make you feel safe and comfortable. Your guide(s) stay close and communication the whole time. Great, clean and comfortable equipment, and instruction on how best to use/wear it. Even though the sea was a chilly 16 degrees, I didn't feel cold in the wetsuit & hooded vest provided. The session is the perfect length. Enough to take in all the sights, without feeling absolutely exhausted at the end of it. Don't let the word 'advanced' put you off - it really is just referring to whether or not you are a confident swimmer in the sea (rather than the snorkelling). If you get sea sick, you might want to take a tablet before you get in the water. Floating around made me feel a little queasy. Saw loads of wildlife (including kine, snappers, eagle rays and dolphins). The guide took photos, yet to see the ones from our group appear on the Facebook though unfortunately. I went on my own, and was added to an existing group of 3. It was pleasant and not awkward at all. Absolutely recommend.

Value for money but hampered by inexperienced guests - The setup, kit, process, guides, location were all great. The guides did their best but the group was so slow that we didn't get very far or see that much. To say that it was a mixed ability group would be an understatement: and I get that this is difficult to control from a booking perspective. Previous snorkelling experience or confidence in swimming in the ocean were meant to be the criteria - I think that some of the group weren't at that level. That made it tricky for the guides and detracted from the experience. Thank you
