Day trip - Wow what a place to visit. Views are amazing and lots to see and do. Missed out on the birds of prey and was dissapointed the jousting wasn't on. The dungeon was amazing and well worth the extra payment. Would definitely visit again but would take a picnic with me as food and drink is expensive and very limited gluten free choices.

Mixed feelings. Very overpriced! - Mixed feelings about Warwick Castle- used to come here all the time as a kid growing up locally. However it is clear that it is a Merlin exit via the gift shop style cash cow. The main house was pretty much the same as it was in the 1980's- same set up etc. The Time Tower and Kingmaker exhibitions skated over the history of the Castle and made generalised links to the Battle of Hastings & War of the Roses. There wasn't really much specific history to the Castle. The Horrible Histories maze was good but again, generic history & nothing to do with Warwick Castle. The bird of prey show was good. Would I rush back? Nope. Unfortunately it all felt very much a rip off. Nearly £100 to get in. A 30 minute queue for 4 drinks and 4 cakes for £35!! And the audacity to charge £7 for a single doughnut (we did not partake) seemed like an absolute mickey take. On top of this £7 to park. It just feels like Merlin don't really give a damn about offering value for money. It was a decent day out but we won't be back anytime soon.

Zog closed without warning - We booked to visit Warwick Castle for the last day of our holiday. I checked the website carefully as my toddler is a big Zog fan and I wanted to make sure the playground would be open. I noted that the show wasn’t running yet but the playground was said to be open year round. So we talked about it all holiday and she was very excited to go. Unfortunately we were on our way this morning, we’d been in the car for two hours and were nearly there. I went onto the website to check what food options there would be for lunch and a banner popped up saying the Zog playground was closed for maintenance this week! The banner was definitely not there when I booked my tickets. I called up and the people on the end of the phone were very nice (hence 2 star review instead of 1) and helped us move our tickets to a later date, but it’s hard to explain why this has had to happen to a toddler. We’ve had tears on and off all morning :( and we’ve had to scramble to make other plans for our day. If maintenance is planned in, please make this clearer on your website beforehand and not just on the day of.

Feeling sad for this beautiful place. - My very first visit to Warwick Castle and I won’t back go again. For me the overriding feeling on being immersed in this truly historic place was that it absolutely should not be owned by an entertainments company. Merlin Entertainments have missed the opportunity to give the right focus for this building, its history and value and instead made it cheep and nasty. It should be in the safe stewardship of the National Trust or English Heritage and not some organisation that have ripped away the heart and soul of such a beautiful place. It didn’t start well with the young lady on the gate when I asked where the entrance was I was told ‘over there….isn’t it big enough for you to see’ ! ! So very charming ……I would have dismissed her. Filled with terrible food offerings, similar to motorway services and tasteless gift shop merchandise they could really learn a lesson or two from the likes of the National Trust. Toilets were not that accessible and we found them strewn with paper all over the floors and not very clean. There is so much rich material with the castle’s history to do it in style and really enhance the story of the castle but sadly it is not to be. There was a fun fair feel to it but I had hoped there would have been a rich historic feel instead. Once inside the great hall it was amazing to see the rooms, artworks and the information boards were informative. We listened to a couple of the guides who knew their stuff well enough. Unfortunately my expectations were missed by a country mile from what I had built up in my mind. Having read about the history before I visited and been keen for a fully authentic experience I left feeling cheated that such an historic place has been cheapened by the lack of respect and understanding of its value by the owners Merlin Entertainments. Turned into a bit of a laughing stock, so very sad.

Very disappointing and poor value for money. - This was a return visit after a good experience last year. Whilst we should have been aware that the War of the Roses show had finished it was not clear on the website. The trebuchet was broken. Most of the children’s activities were closed. Nearly all the food outlets were closed. Those that were open didn’t provide hot food suitable for children. This was a problem as we had travelled some way and were relying on getting our grandchildren a hot meal. The food was also expensive - £37 for 4 sandwiches, 3 drinks and 3 packets of crisps. The £100 we paid was poor value for basically a falconry display as the children had limited interest in the rest of the castle having been before

Ridiculous policy where they don’t accept cash payment - Went for a family day out to Warwick Castle and was turned away as we only had cash. Couldn’t buy a ticket and apparently all the food and toy shops don’t accept cash! Absolutely ridiculous and 3 hour round trip wasted!

Expensive and geared toward children. Don’t waste your time - Very much geared towards children rather than adults wanting to enjoy a english castle. Would not recommend wasting your money if your over the age of 10. Very expensive- 39 pounds per adult. The only good part was the archer who discussed history regarding bowmen and catapults! The falconry was also neat - but unfortunately those cannot save this. The history of the castle was overshadowed with all the wax figures and cringy videos. Definitely not for adults.

Not worth the money - Not worth the money! Expensive entry, then £7 to park on top, jousting extra £6, archery extra £6, extra to go in to the dungeon. Money making scheme. Wax models in the castle/house itself were a little strange. Signage not very clear. Battle of the roses show was good. Falconry, birds were amazing but would have liked to have heard a bit more about the birds rather than the weird mimed show. Overall I wouldn't recommend spending your hard earned money on a visit.

Lovely venue, but don’t accept cash - I Love Warwick castle. Have visited before. Lovely venue, lots of history, friendly staff, etc. interesting activities (archery etc). However they now refuse to accept cash so we are not going in. Unable to attend without using cash I can only leave a one star review. Very disappointing in the direction they have chosen as a business.
