- Cotswold Way - This tour offers two pick-up locations: the first collection is in Stratford-upon-Avon at 08:45, with departure at 08:50, followed by a stop at Moreton-in-Marsh rail station to gather the remaining guests at 09:30.
From Moreton-in-Marsh station, it’s a short 15-minute drive to our initial destination, where the minibus is parked, and the walk to Broadway Tower begins. This is a gentle walk along a brief section of the Cotswold Way (0.85 miles / 1.4 km), taking about 30 minutes at a relaxed pace. The path meanders through ancient woodlands, farmland, and wildflower meadows, offering breathtaking views of the picturesque English countryside.
- Broadway Tower - Situated atop Beacon Hill, the second-highest point in the Cotswolds, Broadway Tower boasts a rich history and spectacular views of the English landscape.
The minimum walking distance required to visit this stop is 1.7 miles / 2.75 km.
Upon arrival at the tower, the guide will share its fascinating history. Guests will then have free time to explore Broadway Tower Country Park. Access to the park is free as it is on a public footpath, but there is an admission fee to enter the Tower for a higher view and to explore the small museum inside (admission fee not included; pay upon entry). Visitors can also enjoy the shop/café or explore the charming grounds.
Guests can choose to walk back to the minibus with the guide along the Cotswold Way (0.85 miles / 1.4 km) or, for those more experienced, continue along the Cotswold Way down the hill to the next stop, Broadway (approximately 1.5 miles / 2.5 km).
- High Street Broadway - Often called “the jewel of the Cotswolds’ crown,” Broadway is a delightful place to explore. Guests will have about 90 minutes to enjoy this Cotswolds location, have lunch at one of the many shops or eateries, and explore with personalized maps.
No minimum walking distance is required to visit this stop.
- Asthall - After a refreshing lunch in Broadway, the tour proceeds to the Cotswold town of Burford for a brief restroom break if needed.* Then, the journey continues to the Cotswold village of Asthall, where the famous Mitford sisters grew up at Asthall Manor. Asthall serves as the starting point for a scenic figure-of-eight walk through the Windrush Valley (maximum 4.5 km/2.75 miles, with a shorter option available).
*For those who prefer not to participate in the afternoon walk, extra free time in Burford is an option.
- Swinbrook - The midpoint of the figure-of-eight walk leads to the charming village of Swinbrook. Here, guests can explore the church and the graveyard where members of the renowned Mitford family are buried. The picturesque village green, with its small brook, white picket fence, and red telephone box, offers a quintessentially English photo opportunity.
Guests wishing to shorten the walk can relax with refreshments at The Swan Inn in Swinbrook (at their own expense). The guide and the rest of the group will collect them on the return journey.
- Widford - The final village on the Windrush Valley walk is the enchanting village of Widford. The route crosses stiles and cattle grids, passing through beautiful fields and meadows, before returning through Swinbrook and back to Asthall to complete the figure-of-eight.
- Burford - After completing the walk, the tour makes a brief journey to Burford for the day’s final stop. This historic Cotswolds town is perfect for exploring, shopping, or simply relaxing with a drink after a busy day on the trails. Maps are provided.
- Moreton-in-Marsh - For guests who joined at Moreton-in-Marsh, the tour returns here for drop-off at approximately 17:00. Alternatively, guests can be dropped off in Stratford-upon-Avon upon request when booking. We hope you enjoyed a fantastic day!
- Stratford-upon-Avon - For those wishing to be dropped off in Stratford-upon-Avon, the return is scheduled for approximately 17:30. We hope you had a wonderful day!
