• Georgetown - The port of Georgetown has a rich history dating back centuries and is now renowned for its cobblestone streets, historic homes, and gardens. • C & O Canal - This historic canal runs through the industrial section of Georgetown, where visitors can learn about canal boats and observe a functioning “lock” (gate) that facilitated the boats’ travel along the canal.
• Old Stone House - As one of the oldest buildings in the city, this charming site is managed by the National Parks Service and features a delightful garden for relaxation. Built in 1766, it was a car dealership by 1953 before being preserved for its historical significance. Today, it offers a glimpse into a simpler era when tobacco and tall tales were exchanged at the nearby port.
• Hedin House - Visit one of the many homes associated with the Kennedy family, who resided in nearly a dozen different homes in the neighborhood.
• Georgetown University - Established in 1789, this esteemed Jesuit University is widely recognized for its medical, legal, and undergraduate programs. Admire the towering spires of the Patrick Healy building and the statue of founder John Carroll. On warm days, students can be seen lounging on the grass, tossing frisbees, reading, and socializing.
• “The Exorcist” Steps - The tour concludes near the Exorcist Steps, a historic stairway that gained fame from the 1970s film of the same name.
