Highlights
  • Lafayette Square - The tour will begin with an introduction to President Lincoln’s final months in the White House. New characters will be introduced as we explore the historic row houses that surround the park.
  • The National Theatre - On the day of the assassination, John Wilkes Booth stopped by this theater and met with a friend. Later that evening, Lincoln’s son Tad was at this theater watching a play: Alladin or his Wonderful Lamp.
  • Old Post Office Pavilion - Across from this grand old building was the location of the Kirkwood House Hotel. This is where Vice President Andrew Johnson stayed. Conspirator George Azerodt rented a room here and was given the job to attack Johnson that same night…
  • Ford’s Theatre - This is the historic theater where John Wilkes Booth snuck up behind the President like a coward and fired that fateful shot. Today it is a working theater and it has been restored to his Civil War era grandeur. Millions of Americans visit this location every year to remember Lincoln and his legacy.
  • Petersen Boarding House - This small and simple historic row house was a boarding house at the time of the Civil War. After Lincoln was shot, he was taken to a room on the first floor of this house while the doctors attended to his health. Secretary of War Edwin Stanton interviewed witnesses here that night. Robert Todd Lincoln arrived from the White House and stayed by his father’s side all night. It was a sad procession early the next morning when they finally brought the President’s lifeless body down the steps for his carriage journey back to the White House.

Wealth of knowledge - Colin is a wealth of knowledge about all things Lincoln. He's also kindly sympathetic to tourists with tired legs/feet and frequently the stops along the way are at benches or steps for resting while listening.

Loved Becca!! - Loved Becca!! The way she tells the stories kept everyone’s attention 100% of the time. Very well done! Our family (including our 13yr old twins) said it was their favorite tour of DC and we did a bunch.

Lot of talk, little to see - Our guide, Max, was good - very knowledgeable. It was a bit disappointing that some of the buildings weren’t there anymore. The guide just took us to the vicinity and then told us the story of what happened.

Didn’t take the tour no money back - The day of the tour was really bad weather. I wrote to the company and asked for refund but they said wasn’t possible that the tour was still going to happen, with rain and cold temps. I felt that at that point that wasn’t very honest from the company. They did offer another day to take the tour but I was in DC just for that night.

Our experience was not good - We was looking so forward to this tour based on the reviews. Max was our guide. He was nice but didn’t do this justice. It was pretty terrible to be honest.
