How to get around DC from Union Station - We needed a place to park a 15 passenger van for the day while we went sightseeing. Union station was the perfect place. The cost is 2 dollars per hour $20 per day. We parked on level two every day and found parking spaces easily. We found out that the circulator will take you all over DC for FREE You can catch it at several points around union station. The red line will take you to all the monuments in DC. Then will drop you off and pick you up in 15 to 20 minute intervals. And did I say it was FREE We visited the Washington monument most of the Smithsonian‘s the Lincoln Memorial the World War II Memorial the Vietnam Memorial and the Korean Memorial... all while getting on and off of the circulator. It will also take you to most of the Smithsonian‘s for free.... pick up a circulator pamphlet and it will show you each bus route. We did go to the White House just remember you have to ask your congressman or senator to get you the tickets a few months in advance We did go to the Washington monument, you must pick up the tickets at 8 AM there at the base of the Washington monument each day for that day— they are first come first serve. We ate supper every day at union station at the same restaurant.... it’s very reasonable and quite delicious... they also serve a food bar that is 8.99 per pound
