Situated on Capitol Hill at the eastern end of the National Mall in Washington, D.C., it is no longer at the geographic center of the Federal District. However, the Capitol is the starting point for the District’s street-numbering system and its four quadrants.

- National World War II Memorial - The World War II Memorial is a nationally significant monument dedicated to Americans who served in the armed forces and as civilians during World War II. Featuring 56 pillars and two small triumphal arches surrounding a square and fountain, it is located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on the former site of the Rainbow Pool at the eastern end of the Reflecting Pool, between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument.
- Jefferson Memorial - The Jefferson Memorial is a presidential memorial in Washington, D.C., dedicated to Thomas Jefferson (1743–1826), a key American Founding Father. Jefferson was the main drafter of the Declaration of Independence, a member of the Continental Congress, governor of the newly independent Commonwealth of Virginia, American minister to King Louis XVI and the Kingdom of France, the first U.S. Secretary of State under President George Washington, the second Vice President under President John Adams, and the third President (1801–1809). He also founded the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.
- Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial - The Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial is situated in West Potomac Park next to the National Mall in Washington, D.C., United States. Covering four acres, it includes the Stone of Hope, a granite statue of Civil Rights Movement leader Martin Luther King, carved by sculptor Lei Yixin. The memorial’s design was inspired by a line from King’s “I Have A Dream” speech: “Out of the mountain of despair, a stone of hope.” It opened to the public on August 22, 2011, after over two decades of planning, fundraising, and construction.

- Lincoln Memorial - The Lincoln Memorial is a national monument built to honor the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. Located on the western end of the National Mall in Washington, D.C., across from the Washington Monument, it was designed by architect Henry Bacon. The primary statue of Abraham Lincoln, completed in 1920, was designed by Daniel Chester French and carved by the Piccirilli Brothers. The interior murals were painted by Jules Guerin. Dedicated in May 1922, it is a major tourist attraction and has been a symbolic center for race relations since the 1930s.

Its construction and related issues have sparked controversies, leading to additions to the memorial complex. The memorial comprises three parts: the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, the best-known section; The Three Soldiers; and the Vietnam Women’s Memorial.
- The National Archives Museum - The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is an independent agency of the United States government responsible for preserving and documenting government and historical records. It also aims to increase public access to these documents, which form the National Archive. NARA is officially tasked with maintaining and publishing legally authentic and authoritative copies of acts of Congress, presidential directives, and federal regulations. Additionally, NARA transmits Electoral College votes to Congress.
