Embark on a motorized canoe for a 40-minute ride along the river, followed by a brief walk around the community. If the weather allows, enjoy a refreshing swim in a small river.
Reboard the canoe for a 45-minute journey to an Embera village. The Embera people have traditionally resided and worked along riverbanks and are renowned throughout Panama for their unique songs, dances, and attire.
The Embera tribe hails from the Darien region in Panama and the Choco region of Colombia. They have inhabited this area for centuries, long before the arrival of the first Spanish explorers in the New World.
Spend three hours exploring the village, meeting local residents, and learning about community life. Enjoy a traditional lunch and watch a dance that illustrates the Embera’s connection with nature.
Before leaving the village, browse and purchase traditional handicrafts and souvenirs crafted by the locals. Travel back down the river by canoe and board the vehicle for the return trip to the city.

- If the water level of the river is too high or too low, this tour will not include the visit to the waterfall. In such cases, we will attempt to substitute the waterfall experience with another option, allowing guests to enjoy a bathing spot in the River next to the community. During the rainy season, when rainfall is high, or during dry seasons with drought-like conditions, we reserve the right to skip this part of the tour for the safety of our guests.
- The hike to the waterfall is approximately 35-45 minutes and follows a jungle path that may be slippery, with some larger rocks that require careful stepping. This part of the tour is not recommended for individuals with mobility challenges, back issues, knee or foot injuries, or any medical conditions that could limit hiking abilities. We encourage you to use caution and evaluate your personal limits before choosing to join. If you prefer not to participate in the hike, you’re welcome to stay back and relax in the piragua boat with one of the Embera guides. Thank you for considering your safety and well-being.
- For your safety and peace of mind, we strongly recommend having private medical insurance when choosing this activity in Panama. While we prioritize safety and take precautions to ensure a secure experience, unforeseen circumstances can arise, especially in outdoor and remote settings. Having private medical insurance can provide added protection in case of unexpected medical needs, ensuring you can receive prompt and adequate care if necessary. Your health and well-being are important to us, and we encourage you to take this precaution to enjoy your adventure worry-free.
